The ink for Lexmark is excellent but quite expensive and you cannot use any of the generic brands of ink to save money. Fortunately, my Lexmark got a paper jam and there was one tiny piece I could not get out. That tiny piece was wrapped around the roller which does not have a release button and so it caused the ink to smear and I had to throw the Lexmark out since every sheet was smeared somewhere on the page. I bought a Canon since Lexmark is to stop making printers and am much happier.

Good News! It does work, and it is much cheaper that buying Epson inks.

Bad News, you get what you paid for meaning that it takes time to prep the cartridges for refill and use.

Smell:

Unlike the Epson ink, this ink has a strong "Windex" smell and takes a little longer to dry.

Refilling:

It's actually easy. There are two plugs located on each cartridge, a colored one, and a transparent one. Remove the colored one to refill the ink. After injecting the ink into the cartridge, replace the colored tag and remove the transparent plug before installing it into the printer. Then I recommend cleaning the head, then aligning the head. (Standard ink jet maintenance features.) then I would let the cartridge sit in the printer over night before I start printing. If you start printing right away, it'll streak, or colors may be missing from the print out. I assume that air bubbles in the cartridge are responsible for that. Allowing it to sit over night allows time for the air bubbles to leave the cartridge, and you will have streak free printing.

If you want hassle free ink, then I'd recommend buying the Epson inks. If saving money is a higher priority, then I'd recommend this ink. Just remember to keep the windows open because the ink has a very strong windex smell to it.

I gave this a product four stars due to the lack of care that was taken when the shipper packed the goods. Other than that the item works as advertised. I have had the product now five weeks and no problems with the printer rejecting the ink cartridge. Also the quality of ink is fair for the price.

I bought a brand new HP 2175 all-in-one with two full new cartridges (56 and 57) for my daughter. She used the printer very little. After about a year the printer stopped working, with the message "remove and check cartridges". I tried cleaning the cartridges with alcohol but to no avail. My daughter was at school and didn't need the printer much so she just stopped using it. Now she brought it home and I tried fixing it again, to no avail. I know the cartridges are almost full. So then I started looking online and found a blog where someone said that the cartridges have a date on them, and that the cartridge expires on that date regardless of how much ink it contains. I looked and sure enough they have dates on them. I just called HP and their tech confirmed that this is true (it is to prevent people from refilling them).

I have been buying HP printers for a decade, but I think I've just bought my last one. If HP is going to terminate my cartridges even when they are full just because some date has gone by, that's the end of our relationship.

Even more amazing is that there is no acknowledgement of this "feature" on sellers' web sites or in stores. Buyer beware. The cartridge you buy may have already expired, or may have only a few days left on it. That'll be $50 right down the drain, fella. Unbelievable.

I was disappointed with items when received. Unless I am mistaken, I was lead to believe these ink cartridges were New HP #56 and #57 cartridge combo's by the description and the posted picture. They are "compatible" cartridges by two different companies (not HP), and clearly state "remanufactured". The expiration dates were not visible. They seem to print OK but won't know how long they last till later. I feel the seller is aware it was a deceptive sale, and thus gave seller a two star rating. I'm willing to apologize if wrong.

This kit is OK, does what it says. What you are not told though is that a lot of the Canon printers are too 'smart' for the refill kit to be of any use. Canon printers apparently record the ID number in non-volatile memory on a lot of their ink cartridges. What this means is that when the printer thinks a specific ink cartridge is low or empty, you cannot 'change its mind' by refilling it this is Canons way of forcing you to buy more ink cartridges.

There are all kinds of how-to instructions on the web to reset an ink cartridge, but for our MP495 none of them worked (and believe me, I have tried them ALL). I have no choice but to buy a new cartridge because my too smart printer thinks the cartridge is empty even though I refilled it. My new strategy is to monitor the ink levels and refill it BEFORE it hits the 'low' or 'out' level, but that may not work if the printer keeps track by a counter. If that is the case, no amount of refilling will help and this product is useless.

I agree with some of the reviews that the cartridges don't last very long and are expensive. I tried a refill product from Dataproducts for both b&w (51629A)and color cartridges (51649A). Both work well. I didn't trust the cover for the color refill and used the old one by attaching it with tape. Works fine so far. Hope this helps.

I received a twin pack of HP 45 cartridges on June 30, 2011. The warranty as stated on the package expires in July 2011. When I contacted SophiaGlobal, they said they would warrant the cartridges for an additional 2 years. I decided to keep the cartridges, but I feel (for Truth in Advertising) that they should have noted in the ad that they were old cartridges. They stated in an email "we have sold hundreds of OEM HP ink cartridges with expired warranty dates over the last few years". So be sure to ask before ordering if you want "fresh" ink.

Some reviewers complained that this cartridge has a low ink supply. I suppose that may be true for someone running a very active office or home-office with very demanding print needs. However, in my Deskjet 882C (an excellent printer) used at home with moderate printing (in a home-office), these cartridges last just fine. I have been using them in my 882C since March, '99 and am only on my 4th one 4 in 16 months is not too bad. But even more importantly, is the excellent performance: clear black text, never smudged or faded, very professional looking on practically any paper. A good, safe, relaible product.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)Let's face it, how much can you really say about an ink cartridge? Using this on my HP970cxi produces very good print quality. The biggest problem I've had with the cartridges has been a tendency to dry up more quickly than they should. A couple of them have gone dry far too soon after purchase both in terms of time and the number of sheets printed. Fortunately, most of them hold up for a reasonable period of time. The bottom line is that you need ink cartridges to use your printer and this is a good cartridge even if it isn't perfect.

Cheap Epson Stylus Pro 3800-T582000 Ink Maintenance Cartridge

I checked with my manual (for the 3800 printer) and found that this little guy collects the drippings from the ink as it's being used. Extra ink is used during print head cleaning and print head alignment. Think if it as a broiler pan for your printer. You can check the "% left" by going to Menu, printer status and down to Maintenance Cartridge and it will tell you how much useful life it has left (if only we all had that option.) The manual will also tell you how to change it when you need to. You can download a PDF manual from the Epson site for free.

There's not very much I can say about a maintenance cartridge, but this is a genuine Epson product. It was easy to install and has been problem-free.

My printer, the Epson 3800, provides a status of the maintenance cartridge whenever I print, which led me to purchase this in advance.

PROS:

TIP:

One thing to consider is that when you print "full bleed", the ink that prints beyond the edge of the paper goes into the maintenance cartridge. So if a white border is acceptable for whatever you're printing, that will help extend the life of the maintenance cartridge as well as reduce wasted ink. Hope this helps.

If you have ever seen this "tray" with a filter in it. Epson should be able to come up with a more eco-friendly solution. You have to buy the whole thing, when in actuality, it looks like you should be able to just replace the "guts" of it. I'm sure they make more money this way, and it certainly does the job, but between buying the cartridge and paying for shipping, it is a bit pricey for such a cheap looking product.

One star to acknowledge the speed of shipment and the reply to my question, but the net effect is that I am without cartridge and therefore printer... so the true value is zero.

I still don't know what to do with the orange plastic which seems to be something to twist off, but regardless, there is no way I can fit this into the Pixma 4700. (The reply from the company: "Yes, it's a different shape, but it does work.")

In fact, after trying and trying, then going to a new Canon 30 (instead of the current 40), I now get a error message about the cartridge being incompatible even when I insert the original 40 cartridge!

Very frustrating.

When some of the cartridges were vacuum packaged the ink came out in the packages, as a matter of fact it was 4 of the black ones. Even though it had leaked in the package the cartridge still works. I had to get a pair of rubber gloves and paper towels to clean the outside off to be able to handle it and put it in my printer.

The black cartridge either does not print at all on the normal settings or prints so lightly on the darkest printer setting that I opened a second cartridge. The second cartridge was not any better.

I would not recommend this ink. I have not tried the color cartridges yet but the black does not work.
