The cartridge works well. I've tried other solutions, such as ink refills but they don't work well. Remanufactured cartridges seem to do the trick, and for the extra money it is worth losing the ink stains and useless refilled cartridges.

I just installed this cartridge and it's already printing a little off. There are some places were it clearly didn't use as much ink as it was supposed to. I don't use this printer for anything that actually needs to look good, so the cartridge is fine for my use, but if this was a printer I used for prints that I'd be displaying or that I'd be using for work, I'd be upset by the quality of the prints I'm getting.

Got the cartridges (Not in the combo package shown, but individually wrapped) which shows the ink to be HP 940. (No "XL" on any of the wrapping, but labeled with the part numbers C4907S, C4908S and C4909S)

It also came with a card that references that the C4907S, C4908S and C4909S are XL cartridges.

The XL cartridges that I purchased in the past typically have "XL" on the package and is labeled C4907AN, etc...

No idea is this is really an "XL" cartridge or whether I will even get 1400 pages with this ink. I would have preferred the vendors not misrepresent the item by listing it as a combo with the picture shown, when it is clearly not in that packaging. At least buyers would make an informed decision about whether to take a chance on these cartridges...

I suppose the fact that I only paid $8 for this cartridge makes it not that much of a sunk investment, however the performance I received was terrible. I finally put this in my WorkForce 845, and after three weeks of occasional use (printing once or so daily), the cartridge quit working. It will print out some lines of the documents sometimes, but no amount of head cleaning or realignment got it to start working again. It is still full of ink, but is not working properly. I put in an Epson 127 cartridge and that works without issue, so I know the problem is not with the printer. Disappointing to get so little use out of it before it quit.

[I have a new printer--a Canon MP640--and, ruefully, I forgot to follow my own advice. In 20 years of using non-OEM cartridges (i.e. "clones"), I've never experienced anything as bad as these PGI-220 black-ink splatterers. First, the cartridge began dripping on papers all over my desk, narrowly missing my white shirt. Then, since it was my last cartridge, I tried to install it. It didn't even "seat," or click, in its compartment--instead, it sort of balanced and teetered in the middle of the other cartridges. Lesson: even if you can't afford genuine Canon cartridges, spend a couple more bucks for a potentially better clone cartridge. Notice that these have an all-black label. The one that preceded it fit my machine and printed good copy--without emptying out in a couple of days. It had an all-white label. It's a game of exclusion, and I'll save you the trouble of ordering the pictured cartidges.}

[As I mentioned earlier, these will NOT fit the Canon Pixma MP610. Since writing the review, my newest gripes against the cartridge consist of: 1. constantly oscillating prices, with increases hidden in the postage of what formerly was a Prime order; 2. the lickety-split, rapid exhaustion of the cartridge during even moderate use. I always order a new cartridge at the moment I insert my last one in my Canon 560. Not fast enough for these 220 black clones. They've run dry on me in a matter of 2-3 days, leaving me without a printer for the long week-end.]

In its personalized box, Amazon assures me that this cartridge will fit my old, previous printer, the Canon MP610. Wrong, wrong, and by the 3rd time I KNEW Amazon was wrong. The cartridge indeed will fit the Canon MP560 and the Canon MP620, among others. It will NOT work with a Canon MP610.

Right fit or not, prepare yourself for the unpredictable when ordering a deeply discounted clone cartridge. For the most part, I've had good luck since, not all that long ago, non-oem cartridges for the aforementioned two printers finally became available. However, these PGI-220BK impostors (the thicker of the 2 black cartridges in the Canon system) were less successful. The first required so much priming (deep cleaning) that by the time it agreed to perform it had divested itself of half its contents. The 2nd behaved in an opposite manner--far from suffering from constipation it liberally drained a small pool of its contents on my newly pressed shirt before I had a chance to put it in its place.

If your luck is better than mine, be grateful; if it's worse, give it another shot. There are numerous dealers, and even with the same dealer a supply of cartridges can vary considerably from one batch to the next. If, after spending ten bucks, you're still batting a dismal .200, you might look for some different configurations (the 4 and 5 cartridge sets tend to be more consistent than the solo and duo packages) and consider setting your sights a bit higher (i.e. spending a bit more for a clone that's been made to feel like less of an orphan or black sheep). When all else fails, prepare to suck it up and go for the killer cartridge, the Black Widow / Black Swan 1-2 punch of genuine, OEM Canon cartridges.

Final consolation: I find that that spending more on better or, in some instances, premium cartridges "forces" me to print fewer gratuitous downloads (which I rarely read), saves the world a few more trees, and finally encourages a more prudent and resourceful use of personal time while at the darned machine.

Even though it says they work with the MX870, neither of the two cartridges in the 2-pack I received worked with my Canon MX870; the printer didn't recognize them. I contacted customer service and they sent me a form to fill out and said to send the cartridges back. It's not worth returning them for replacements since it will cost me more in time, gas and postage than I paid for them. I'm ordering from betaInk from now on since the cartridges I've gotten from them DO work with my MX870.

Leaked when I popped off the orange cap. Not a fast leak but it let out 2 or 3 drops before I got it put in. Good thing I didn't have it over the carpet. After I put it in the printer recognized it instantly. Printed a test page and it looked just fine. Will definitely buy again just beware that it may drip between opening and installing it in your printer. After it is installed it is sealed again and will not leak. Installed in a Canon MP560.

I bought a brand new HP 2175 all-in-one with two full new cartridges (56 and 57) for my daughter. She used the printer very little. After about a year the printer stopped working, with the message "remove and check cartridges". I tried cleaning the cartridges with alcohol but to no avail. My daughter was at school and didn't need the printer much so she just stopped using it. Now she brought it home and I tried fixing it again, to no avail. I know the cartridges are almost full. So then I started looking online and found a blog where someone said that the cartridges have a date on them, and that the cartridge expires on that date regardless of how much ink it contains. I looked and sure enough they have dates on them. I just called HP and their tech confirmed that this is true (it is to prevent people from refilling them).

I have been buying HP printers for a decade, but I think I've just bought my last one. If HP is going to terminate my cartridges even when they are full just because some date has gone by, that's the end of our relationship.

Even more amazing is that there is no acknowledgement of this "feature" on sellers' web sites or in stores. Buyer beware. The cartridge you buy may have already expired, or may have only a few days left on it. That'll be $50 right down the drain, fella. Unbelievable.

I was disappointed with items when received. Unless I am mistaken, I was lead to believe these ink cartridges were New HP #56 and #57 cartridge combo's by the description and the posted picture. They are "compatible" cartridges by two different companies (not HP), and clearly state "remanufactured". The expiration dates were not visible. They seem to print OK but won't know how long they last till later. I feel the seller is aware it was a deceptive sale, and thus gave seller a two star rating. I'm willing to apologize if wrong.

I bought this ink because it was so cheap. When I put it in my printer and tried it, it worked okay. It definitely didn't print as well as the Kodak ink I had been using, but it was decent enough for the amount I payed. Today however, (about three weeks after I first installed the ink cartridges and printed a few test pages) when I tried printing something, it barely printed at all. I then took out that ink and put Kodak ink in, and it still won't print correctly! This ink was not only sub-par, it destroyed my printer! Even after cleaning the print heads several times, it still won't print correctly. I plan on calling the company, but even if they send me better ink or give me a refund, it still won't fix my printer.

I have only used the black cartridge so I can't comment on the color yet. I am using this for my kodak esp 3250. When I print on "draft", the "thickness" is not consistent. Some lines look bold when they really aren't meant to be. When I put it on "best", it is phenomenal. Looks great! However, it takes a really long time to print. So I put it on normal and it seems to be a happy medium. It prints faster, and while the words are not quite as clear or sharp, I think it looks very nice for the price! Unless I have major problems with the color ink, I will definitely be purchasing again! I did not have any problems with the printer not accepting the cartridge.

I only buy Epson ink for my Epson Workforce 600 printer, as I have for all of the five Epson printers which I have had over the years. I have never had any problems with Epson ink.

But buying directly from Epson is expensive, especially since I live in Alaska and Epson thinks that Alaska is the edge of world and charges outrageous shipping costs to ship to here. The price at Amazon.com is discounted 40% and the shipping is free. Who can beat a deal like that? It is even cheaper than buying locally for me.

I always wish that cartridges lasted longer, but I think it is how the printer companies make their money --not with the sale of the printer, but with all of the ink that you have to buy. I also wish that Epson cartridges were refillable.

I do think that the high capacity cartridges are worth the higher price.

I have a NX400 and bought these because I have previously purchased a 68 series in black and they work great! However when I got these 3 colors and I installed them normally as they fit perfectly, but the printer doesn't recognize them! I called Epson @ 800-533-3731 and got a technical support specialist who confirmed that the NX400 will only read the 68 series in black. Just a heads up.

Epson has constructed their printers so that they will not work at all after the printer memory decides that the ink is low. Who knows how many pages could be printed until the cartridge is actually empty. The Epson ink works well. No problems with an inoperable cartridge so far. Ink flow starts easily and dries quickly without smudging. However, it seems to me that there is not much ink in the cartridge as compared to my old HP printer cartridges. I am buying the "68" size since the smaller "69" doesn't last long enough to even be worth considering. My advice is to buy the HP printer, but if you already have the Epson you are stuck. The positive side is the cartridge works very well and you will be changing them frequently (which is very easy to do).

I have had my Epson multi-task printer/scanner for several years now and it works fine. The catch is that the printer will not work unless you have four ink cartridges in it -black, plus the three colors you need for full-color printing. The cartridges are outrageously expensive, wherever you buy them, and even if you want to print only in black, the printer requires you to buy and install all four colors before it will work. And the cartridges really don't last so long. So while buying the printer was a good deal, I have over the years spent many times more than that for the cartridges.

So far so good. I installed the black, yellow and magenta. It didn't recognize the magenta so I contacted the seller and they told me to install it when the printer was off, then it took it.

The color looks fine and the toner isn't leaking. As long as it keeps up I'll be ordering more.

Of course ignore the 'estimated' page yield on all printers. That's at 5% which no one uses. I print custom stickers, sometimes full pages and got 1200 pages from the toner that came with my printer. (I don't know if that was trial size or regular), but if I get that many from this toner that makes the page cost $0.20 and that is solid color on 3/4 the page, so I think that's good.

Bought a 2nd set and the blue and black have developed dots down the page. I think it was blue in first set, black in second. But the black from the xerox toner that came with it got the dots too. Cleaning the laser lens doesn't clear it up. So maybe it's a problem with this toner/printer style

I'm started to think, it might be best to buy manufactured toners not re-manufactured. Too many errors, bleeding, and breakdowns. I read a forum that said this Phaser 6280 printer can detect OEM vs original toner. The tech say the only way to avoid false errors is to put tape over the chip so the system would not detect a change. In just the last month, we had to change toners due to bleeding, lines errors. The toner never make it to its full expected yield (5900-7000 pages). Some of the toners had labels of other printer companies on it (lexmark, etc). Not Xerox?

Look, the seller was great with its return policy. Every time a toner broke down, they rushed a replacement. But we are a business and it was holding us up. One time I lost even my backup toner on the same day.

Buyer beware.
