While this cartridge prints just fine, there is a something odd that occurs, which I have experienced with previous remanufactured cartridges. Presumably, it has something to do with the tiny chip that points into the printer. This can be easily removed and doesn't actually have any direction connection the reservoir of ink.

Frequently, the ink level will show up as "!" but the printer will still print. This is the case with these cartridges as well. In the past, other vendors have provided cartridges where the problem would worsen over time with errors suggesting a defective cartridge. At some point, the hassle must outweigh HP prices gouging. It would be nice if a major vendor came along and reverse engineered the chip and deciphered its contents.

The cartridge has been in my printer for a couple of weeks now and it has been working just as well as the original that it replaced.

As others have said, it's not perfect. My HP 8500 printer 'knows' this is not real HP, and refuses to show ink remaining. BUT it does work, and the printer keeps printing, and prints look fine. The HP utility on my computer keeps popping up a 'replace cartridge soon!' warning, so I might have to kill that utility.

Oh, and initially there was a warning the non-HP cartridge would void my warranty... not a concern with my fouror five-year-old printer. When my other carts run dry I'll be replacing them with more from this maker. And HP, you can keep your expensive ink carts!

If you can find the CB309BN HP 02 ink package for less than $60, it is truly the best you can do at this time (Feb 2009). Ink is expensive, and the measures of ink within the cartridge are crucial to its worth. This particular package has the same amount of ink in each cartridge that is in the individual cartridges sold separately. The combo pack with free photo paper (Q7964AN) contains reduced levels of ink in each cartridge. There is one other combo pack that contains full ink levels (CC604FN), that I'm aware of, and it doesn't contain the black cartridge. The pack we are discussing here CB309BN contains the following product numbers and measures of ink:

C8721WN HP 02 black 10 ml

C8773WN HP 02 yellow 6 ml

C8772WN HP 02 magenta 3.5 ml

C8775WN HP 02 light magenta 5.5 ml

C8771WN HP 02 cyan 4 ml

C8774WN HP 02 light cyan 5.5 ml

I ordered from 'imagewarehouse' at what seemed like a great price. The ink cartridges came in a shipping box in separate sealed containers, NOT in the combo-pack box pictured above. This would have been fine, BUT the cartridges were starter ones, only providing about half as much ink as they are supposed to have. This is the same issue as some have complained about in the 'photo-pack' HP Photo Value Pack of HP 02 ink, so these might have come from an opened one of those too. Those cartridges are made to only print 150 photos, far less than the cartridges purchased separately, or in the color combo-pack here: HP 02 Inkjet Print Cartridge Color Combo Pack The thing is, this combo-pack is supposed to have the full cartridges, comparable to buying them separately, as listed on the HP website. So, in short, this is straight-up corporate robbery. Sadly, many people don't seem to know how to tell the difference between the cartridges that are legitimate, and the more meager ones, as they appear the same from the outside.

FALSE ADVERTISING Plain and simple! As noted in another review, the cartridges shipped by Image Warehouse are not in the original pack, and not a HP CB309BN 02 CLUB COMBO PACK as advertised. These contain much less ink, and the retailer is obviously counting on the customer not knowing that HP supplies several options. Those shipped in the "Value Pack" are like the ones that come with the printer half full. The true Combo pack is supposed to contain full cartridges like the photo these scam artists took the liberty of posting. Please understand this review applies to the dishonest vendor not the true HP cartridges, should they be in the original box and labelled as such. They would then be priced accordingly. I hope Amazon has/will bar this vendor.

Was concerned from other reviews about possible reduced ink levels, but the ink gauge on my copier indicated full cartridges from this product. With full cartridges this was a great deal especially with the black cartridge included! Will buy again with confidence.

They might cost a bit more but they definitely are worth it. The regular size ink tanks last for 6 pieces of paper and are empty. The High capacity really do last long. I kinda feel that HP purposely does this so your forced to pay more for the high cartridge but I think that's the trade off when you can get a printer that is less than $100. Now that i think of it it might be cheaper to keep buying new printers because you get all new ink and if you had to purchase them separately it would cost more...lol

I was very pleased with the HP cartridge included in the new Printer But when I bought the HP replacement set I frankly I thought that HP was ripping me off.The price was excrutiatingly high. In order to print in Black I had to buy the complete black set.

The price was too high ,and the HP black cartridge did not fit my new printer. It was marked 564xl.It did not fit.I did not get any satisfaction from HP in relation to the smaller 564XL black cartridge.

I checked with Amazon and found that the price was much better and their black cartridge fit.

Multiple warnings about using these cartridges were observed. I have continued to use the "Hi vision" ink ,quite satisfactorily.

It prints cleanly and with no deleterious effects as yet.

Buying one series of refill inks for this Canon printer is almost as expensive as buying the printer. In addition, it would be more convenient and I would hope less expensive to have the large volume inks in a package rather than having to buy all individually. As far as function, the inks do what they are supposed to do.

From the product description I expected this to be a fresh ink cartridge. The description even included a statement about the expected shelf life of this cartridge. These were several years out of date, nothing near fresh. They didn't even feel as new ink would when shaken in the sealed pack.

Shipment was good and on time. The three color cartridges were not in original packaging. One of the colors quit working properly after a few pages printed. All three still show as having ink, but they do not print properly.
