Buying one series of refill inks for this Canon printer is almost as expensive as buying the printer. In addition, it would be more convenient and I would hope less expensive to have the large volume inks in a package rather than having to buy all individually. As far as function, the inks do what they are supposed to do.

It cost me $105 (including 9% California sale tax) to get the refill ink for my Canon printer that cost $140. This is for 5 ink cartridges, extra large size. Ouch! I hope they last twice as long.

In comparison, it was only $58 for 4 cartridges for my Epson XP-600 printer (normal size). This printer cost $130 from Apple.

I purchased replacement cartridges through Amazon back in 2012 and was satisfied with the quality and performance. My most recent purchase, however, was a complete disappointment. The first cartridge I tried would not work at all--the printer would not recognize it and attempts to reset the printer were unsuccessful. The second cartridge was recognized by the printer but apparently the nozzles were clogged because the color rendition was completely off. I tried both the cleaning and deep cleaning cycles with no change.

I would not recommend this particular manufacturer--the cartridges are junk.

The Epson Photo 750 is one of the best color printers I have seen in its price range, and the heart of that quality is this cartridge. Colors are solid and rich, even at normal 360 resolution. The ink droplets are extremely small, producing smooth gradations and very sharp text. Unfortunately, the cartridge seems to be in limited supply, and not available at all in my area. Notwithstanding, it is a quality product.

I learned the hard way that my Canon printer needs TWO black ink cartridges -226 BK and 225 PGBK. Apparently, one black (226) is used exclusively for images, and one (225) exclusively for text. When my PGBK cartridge ran dry, I thought the BK cartridge would take over, since it was still 75% full. Nope.

Now that I've purchased this combo pack, convenient as it is, the BK cartridge is gathering dust next to my printer, unused.

I agree with most of the people that have written reviews. Believe it or not.....it costs less at times to purchase a new printer that comes with in than buying the ink alone. Our stores have this model on sale all the time. Actually ran into a guy the other day who had like 6 of them in his shopping cart and said.....yeah buying the printer for the ink.

So, what do you do with all the printers? I guess they all go to land fill, just what we need. Canon we like your product, so give us a break on the ink.......

I have always stuck with OEM ink, because the results and reliability are worth the extra cost to me (plus printer manufacturers are making it increasingly difficult to use non-OEM solutions).

However, it is beyond dumb to see the combos that Canon is offering for the new line of ink jet cartridges. In this case Canon gives you four color cartridges, but all of their current PIXMA printers take five or six to get the Pigment Black or Gray cartridges you'll have to buy them separately and at a higher price. Plus this combo includes 50 sheets of paper that not everyone needs (I have plenty already). Perhaps Canon should ditch the paper and lower the list price of this combo by eight dollars the amount this CLI-226 combo was increased over the CLI-221 combo it replaced.

BTW, the other package deal offered by Canon (PGI-225 BK/ CLI-226 C,M,Y 4 Pack Value Pack (4530B008)) is another strange combo that includes Pigment Black and three colors, but does not include Black or Gray.

Sorry, but it makes no sense whatsoever to not offer at least a 5-cartridge refill kit for a printers that needs 5 or 6 different inks except that it lines Canon's pockets a bit more than it should. A kit that substituted Pigment Black for the paper would make more sense than this or as I said earlier just get rid of the paper and lower the price significantly.

I also have to knock off a star because the new cartridges are opaque, which may have been done to thwart refillers but also prevents users from checking the ink level themselves.

Edit July 2011: When my Pixma MX860 printer recently failed I was looking at upgrading to the Canon PIXMA MG8120 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-In-One Printer (4504B002). But in large part due my dissatisfaction with the ink cartridges of the new Pixmas I went with a refurbished Canon PIXMA MP990 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-In-One Printer (3749B002) which uses the previous generation CLI-221 cartridges.

project. This is good ink its just too small of a container. My printer takes six cartridges of ink. Result is great photos

and printingits just that it uses too much ink to be in such small containers. I have told Canon but they aren't listening.

So if you buy a Canon MG6120 printer,copier,scanner -get a suitcase of spare ink.

This ink tank works in the Canon PIXMA MG6120 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-In-One Printer (4503B002). It's easy to install. The other day I decided to research Canon's ChromaLife 100+ ink & was surprised to learn that prints made with this ink will last over 100 years!

This ink tank is easy to install in my Canon printer. The ink doesn't run when it gets wet & the prints should last over 100 years. I'd say those are great reasons for using Canon ink in my Canon printer.

Thought I'd mention that the ink is in a black tank so you can't see the ink level. I get printer messages that the ink tank might be empty; I don't replace the tank until my printer won't print or the print quality suffers.

(Even if the printer shows a 'red x' above the ink tank, I'll press 'ok' to get rid of the ink status message & continue printing. As long as I'm printing text I don't worry too much about quality as long as it's readable).

If photo quality suffers, I will replace whichever tank is necessary.

I typically buy generic, especially for things like this and considering I paid about $20 for this item. BUY this product NOT the generic. Avery has guidelines for you to affix this label on to a disc perfectly using any old cd case. I usually end up with several cds with wrinkled labels but not this time. All the labels adhered perfectly. THis is a must buy.

My only complaint is that I wish there were more templates.

Buy Refill Kit for Canon PG-210, PG-210XL, PIXMA, MP240, MP245, MP258

After several horrible experiences with aftermarket ink and toner refill systems with several printers and brands, I purchased this "InkTec" kit with low expectations. The end results of my refilled PG-210XL are surprisingly good considering the huge price difference against the retail Canon cartridges, and the volume of ink included seems to be enough for 3-4 complete refill cycles.

The provided instructions are reasonable clear, though definitely foreign. If you've never attempted such a task before, you'll need a steady hand and an area suitable for working with the small syringe and (staining!) ink packs.

The kit comes with a pair of cheap plastic gloves (not pictured) like the ones that come with hair dye kits, but since you've working with dyes and small tools you will inevitably spill a few dabs. Prepare for it and you'll be fine.

My biggest complaint with this refill approach is not the product itself, but that the original PG-210XL cartridge--paired with my printer, at least--does not detect that the ink has been refilled since the cartridges were not designed for user servicing. My specific printer (Canon MP480) still reports "Low Ink" despite many hard resets, reinsertions etc. Again, this has nothing to do with the kit nor quality of the ink, but this should have been disclosed in the product information. Since the printer always reports "Low Ink", you're software has no way of determining when you should refill it again. This will definitely bother some people.

I picked this up to refill my black Canon 210 cartridges. I have used InkTec kits before and they all come with the same standard components. Refilling a empty cartridge is as easy as placing the sticker on, making a small hole and putting the cartridge into the holder. You refill, suction out a little from the bottom and you are good to print!

My only complaint is I wish they would include a pair of cheap latex gloves instead of the flimsy sandwich bag kind you tend to see in hair coloring kits. The kit will refill a standard 210 cart about 4-5 times, so you can't beat the price as a 210 Canon cart is over $20.

One tip, make sure you refill over some old newspaper or in a sink with running water. Do not let any spilled ink sit on a surface, wipe it away as soon as possible if you spill any.

I had my doubts going in since I've used products like this before with mixed results. Bottom line is it worked great! Follow the directions carefully. They're printed in so many languages that it was a little confusing (thus 4 instead of 5 stars). Printer will never see the cartridge as full and I had to reset the printer so that it would continue to print (a simple matter detailed in the instructions). Printed results are excellent.

This experience may just be uniquely mine, but I thought I'd post this to clear up any potential confusion about this product, as the picture of the product no longer matches the description. I ordered this inktec refill kit, which is supposed to come with 2 10ml bottles of ink and all the listed tools as per the description. What I received was the 3 ink bottles that is now the main picture and a little drill bit. It appears to be a homemade kit with a print-out for instructions. I did order it from one of the private sellers, rather than amazon directly, so I don't know if you'll get the same results if you order from a different seller. Anyways, what I got is the item that is now the main pictured (it wasn't the main picture when I ordered..) and not the one detailed in the description.

Really helpful product. I have been refilling cartridges for several years. You need to buy this kit originally and then just buy bulk ink. Make sure you buy the type of ink that the mfg specifies.

Compatible Ink Cartridge Replacement for HP 56 HP 57 C6656AN Review

The cartridges worked for a short period of time and then my HP PSC 1315v started giving the dreaded "E" error. The only way I could reset and get rid of the "E" was to replace these re-manufactured cartridges with the empty genuine HP cartridge. In fact, the color re-manufactured cartridge has a note that states "Please be aware that due to new programming features in printers, the ink level in this cartridge might appear empty". I believe it goes further than that. Just like some after market laptop batteries won't be given a charge by the brand name laptop, I believe these cartridges are sensed by the printer to be after market or re-manufactured printer cartridges and the printer is programmed to go into its non-functioning "E" mode. This is another example of a hi tech company saying "My (very expensive) way or the Highway". A genuine black/color combo pack of these legacy HP cartridges goes for an outrageous $65 at a well known big brick discount store. I see they are cheaper on Amazon. If you buy the genuine cartridges online with Amazon you better make darn sure 1) they are genuine HP cartridges and 2) they have a reasonable expiration date. I have already purchased two items on Amazon that had earlier than expected expiration dates. And I purchased another "new" item from the Amazon warehouse that had obviously been used before. After being a satisfied Amazon customer for years, regretfully, I must say Amazon appears to be getting a bit lax in the quality department so it comes back down to Buyer Beware, again.

I wasn't happy with the first shipment of the black cartridges as they did NOT work with my printer but then they contacted me to resolve the issue, paid for the return shipping and sent back two replacements for the one cartridges that didn't work and the new ones DO work great! They were amazing in their customer service! I HIGHLY recommend using them....if you aren't satisfied at first, they WILL fix it and quickly too! Thanks for being a great experience. I've had this printer for a while but it's been a workhorse. I didn't want to put a lot more into it so I bought this cheaper ink. I just need it to print simple text documents most of the time and then be able to ramp up quality for a few prints for a client. I could't even print simple text documents with either set of catridges without terrible streaks. This ink was a total waste I'm afraid. I haven't tried returning it yet, not sure if I can. The printer is no good if you don't get a decent enough ink to have at least fair quality prints. Lesson learned.

These are without question the worse cartridges I have ever brought. Neither cartridge registers on my printer so it always tells me I am out of ink and the color cartridge is way off on color. Red looks burgandy and greens are almost blue. Not good when printing Red and Green Christmas cards. Should of just gone to Office Max.
