While this cartridge prints just fine, there is a something odd that occurs, which I have experienced with previous remanufactured cartridges. Presumably, it has something to do with the tiny chip that points into the printer. This can be easily removed and doesn't actually have any direction connection the reservoir of ink.Frequently, the ink level will show up as "!" but the printer will still print. This is the case with these cartridges as well. In the past, other vendors have provided cartridges where the problem would worsen over time with errors suggesting a defective cartridge. At some point, the hassle must outweigh HP prices gouging. It would be nice if a major vendor came along and reverse engineered the chip and deciphered its contents.

The cartridge has been in my printer for a couple of weeks now and it has been working just as well as the original that it replaced.Honest reviews on 1 pk HP 940 XL YELLOW Ink Cartridge For Officejet Pro 8000 8000
As others have said, it's not perfect. My HP 8500 printer 'knows' this is not real HP, and refuses to show ink remaining. BUT it does work, and the printer keeps printing, and prints look fine. The HP utility on my computer keeps popping up a 'replace cartridge soon!' warning, so I might have to kill that utility.Oh, and initially there was a warning the non-HP cartridge would void my warranty... not a concern with my fouror five-year-old printer. When my other carts run dry I'll be replacing them with more from this maker. And HP, you can keep your expensive ink carts!
