The cyan ink printhead is one of four printheads required by the HP d135 to operate. The other three are yellow, magenta, and black; these are all HP 14 printheads designed for this printer.

My HP d135 started informing me that the cyan printhead was bad and needed replacement; the manual informed me that the notification to replace would only be exhibited for one printhead at a time so I concluded it possible that one or more of the remaining three would probably need replacement as well.

I decided to go ahead and replace all four printheads which cost a lot of money; my HP d135 has been an excellent multipurpose scanner, fax, and printer so I decided to roll the dice and repair it rather than replace it. The jury is still out on the wisdom of that decision.

The printheads all have an install by date and it's important to check that date before you open the package; it makes it easier to return. The first cyan printhead I got from Amazon had an install by date of November 2008; needless to say I've started the process to return that one for full credit.

Replacement of the printheads should only be done when the new printhead is available and ready to install. The replacement process is really simple and takes just a few minutes; once the new printheads are in place, I installed all four new, the printer wants to align the printheads and asks the operator to press enter to align them.

This is fully automatic and uses one sheet of paper. All four printheads are available from Amazon sellers but please be sure and check the install by date before you open the package!

Just ordered these from Vivamart.

Printing quality is not bad considering I paid less than $20 for this ink when HP is asking a ridiculous amount (3x as much) for their original carts.

Why no one has come down on these printer companies for price gouging on what is essentially 6 mL of ink in a sponge is beyond me.

Granted, I haven't used these carts for longer than a few days. If anything changes I'll edit this post. If you don't see an edit, that means everythign is A-OK.

UPDATE:

So, after using these a while, I'm knocking stars off. These carts do not print a sharp letter or picture worth scrap.

If you are doing mission-critical printing, avoid these cheap knock-offs at all costs. If your printing for your own use, then I'd still say go for it.

I usually do printing of random things that I generally do not have to give to anyone else to read, so it's not a big problem. Had to print out some charts for work today...oh boy, it would have looked better if I HAND PAINTED THE CHARTS. The colors were streaky, there was no definition, and the resolution sucked. Wasn't a problem on the software end, everything is set up correctly. The carts themselves are crap. Sine day one, the color cart has leaked from the nozzel. Numerous attempts to clean this nozzle with some ethanol yields nothing.

Bottom line: if you need quick, dirty printing...it doesn't get cheaper than this. Otherwise, spring for the real deal, at least on the color carts.

Cartridges worked for a couple of weeks, after which I started to get "error-check cartridge" messages on my printer whenever I try to print. Replaced them with my old, refilled HP cartridges and printer worked fine again.

Ended up discarding these cartridges since it wasn't worth my time and money to ship them back to the seller.

Avoid these cartridges and save yourself some aggravation. Would recommend just bringing your old, working cartridges to Walgreens or Costco and just have them refilled. Again, these cartridges are JUNK.

Really thought I would have a problem with ink flow. Print quality as good as or better than name brand. Prints well in draft mode too. Also prints ink jet transfers. Glad I found what I needed for very reasonable expense.

Epson cartridges are my preference over the cheaper generic cartridges. Since I am partial to Epson Printer, I have owned only Epson, and experimented with generic cartridges which although they perform admirably, the difference is seen in high quality photos. While using the highest print settings generic cartridges produce some hues that strongly effect photos of people, facial tones are uneven. This makes you look like a bad photograher to the unknowledgable. With the Epson cartridges this problem does not exist, so if that happens while using OEM clean you printer nozzles, and make sure you have an ample ink supply by checking your printer properties... you may be low on one or more colors. And yes BLACK is a key component in photo printing.

OK, I agree with everyone that Epson makes pretty good ink. Photos come out looking good, and they are archival inks as well. So far so good.

What irks me is that even if I've been overwhelmingly using black ink, when it is used up the printer won't start up until I replace both the black & color cartridges. In fact, Epson settled a class-action suit because the printer would require you to replace both cartridges EVEN WHEN THERE WAS ENOUGH INK LEFT IN THEM. So I ended up having to replace both cartridges when there was no reason to replace either of them, so Epson could sell more high-priced ink. What do I get out of it if I send in my claim? $40 in Epson products, or enough for one set of ink cartridges.

Well, I've bought the last Epson ink I'll ever buy, and the last Epson printer, too. What's the point of having separate cartridges if you have to change them at the same time? Epson has nothing to gain by abusing its customers.

I've since replaced my Epson inkjet with a Brother B&W network laser printer that I'm very happy with, and if I want color photos I upload them to my neighborhood drug store, where my photos are ready in one hour for less cost than printing them on Epson photo paper. If I want a color printer in the future it will be a non-Epson laser printer. Inkjets are a pain in addition to being expensive in the long run anyway.

I purchased 3 Black Epson T007201 Inkjet Printer Cartridges through Amazon.com in January -best price I've seen. The first worked perfectly. The second failed to work at all and my printer kept telling me that my ink cartridge was empty or not an epson ink cartridge. After powering off and on my printer, deleting it, reinstalling it, and restarting my system several times, I finally gave up and opened and installed the 3rd new cartridge. It worked perfectly. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get a replacement for the defective cartridge and I'm not having any success even finding a way to contact amazon about the problem. I'm hoping they respond to this review. If they stand behind the defective cartridge and send me a replacement, they get a 5 star review. Otherwise it goes to zero. Two out three means that my $18.94 cartridge (plus shipping) really cost me almost $30 each. For less than that, I can run down to Office Max and get it instantly and return it instantly if it's defective.

If you have an Epson printer, you pretty much have no choice but to buy their ink. (In fact, this goes any with manufacturer.) I strongly recommend against using any third-party ink cartridges, as I have had nothing but bad experience with them in the past.

This ink cartridge gives you what you expect: never enough pages for what you pay! Fortunately Amazon gives us a very good price, so we can afford to buy just a few more per year.

I will tell you the truth: I was brainwashed by HP and Canon. I truely thought that I had to buy OEM/company brand and patented ink so the printer would function like it was supposed to (no clogs, color quality, dry time, etc). I have thought that for years. So everytime I ran out of ink in a printer, in all honesty, I would go to Walmart and buy another one for 30 dollars. It makes plenty of sense, since ink from HP for color and black is equal if not greater than that pricefor standard and not extra large capacity!! And Canon, wow, don't get me started. My printer has 5 cartridges, starting at $16.00 a piece, but up to 22.00 for the large black cartridge.

So, as soon as my Canon INSTANTLY stopped working when the ink ran out, I needed a quick fix and fast. Unfortunely, I didn't have much money to buy the Canon ink and have it shipped to me pronto. I chose INK4WORK and was expecting a mediocre product with mediocre shipping (was told 7-9 days, and my school cannot wait that long but I have no choice).

Okay, so I checked the mail today and to my surprise it was there, only a few days after ordering. I realize they shipped from Walnut, CA, and I live in Hemet, CA. But there was a holiday between my order (July 4th). I am overjoyous right now since it came just in time for my school work.

Opened the envelope, everything seemed there. I opened the printer to unload the old and upload the new. I did run into a slight problem, however, with the cartridges spilling ink EVERYWHERE when I opened the plastic deal on the bottom and peeling the sticker off of the top like the instructions showed me. Luckily I was in my paint/junk clothes or I would have been very furious if otherwise. I blame the weather affecting the cartridges because it has not been below 90* where I live in the past several weeks. It was 105 the other day. The heat caused pressure in the cartridges and the ink to spill out of the sponge on the bottom and all over the cartridges. It is inevitable this time of year and this place. If you live in a hot climate/the desert, WEAR GLOVES and OPEN OVER TRASH BAG AND PAPER TOWELS ON TOP OF THAT. You have been warned, my clothes and hands right now are witnesses to that.

Okay, so I replaced the old cartridges with the new ones after wiping the new ones down. My main issues were compatibility and color similarity, as well as dry time.

The printer instantly recognised these non-OEM cartridges, as if they were OEM, plug and playgreat.

I compared old reports that I have printed from school with newly printed pages. Color is very similar in look/colors, so similar I cannot tell the differenceokay passed that test.

Dry time= Faster dry time than OEM/Canon ink. I did the notorious smudge test with the fingertip immediately after print. Ink did not smudge for me, it was dry, almost instantly.

I have read many reviews and listened to skeptics and have come to the conclusion that Canon and HP ink is a total SCAM and rip off. They make their money off of the ink they sell, and make a mediocre amount off of their printers. This product, besides the ink mishap, changed my mind and I will be buying from INK4WORK in the future when I run out of ink again. I am happy with the shipper, fair price, and the product.

The ink for my Mx922 had run out. I bought this printer for the features and the price (both good), but I usually buy a printer for its cheap generic ink. It looked like I was going to be stuck with name brand ink, but I waited a day or two and this and one other generic option became available. For just a few dollars more than the brand name cost on one ink tank, I could get all five. I was a little nervous when I replaced the blue blinking cartridge, but I needn't have been--these have the led to let you know (or at least to make you believe) they are communicating properly with the printer. So far, I've only used the blue, but it popped in like a name brand and it has so far played nice with the printer. The color reproduction is great--it looks as good as the name brand ink to me. I'll update this if additional ink tanks prove to be a problem. I wish these were even cheaper when I see the generic prices of ink for some of the other printers, but I can't really complain about the quality or function. So far, these have been a good purchase.

The cartridges work for me, but not before some time was spent on my part dealing with some issues that may not have occurred if I had purchased "official" ones.

I spent some time getting my black cartridge re primed. I had to attempt to print several black and white pages and then turn off and then back on the printer before any black would print.

One of my ink cartridges also arrived with a leak. Thankfully I noticed the leak before I put it in my printer. I contacted the seller about the leaky cartridge and they promptly sent a replacement.

I'll probably purchase again due to it being so inexpensive and the willingness of the seller to promptly address any issues if something isn't right.

Returning buyer from this company as they offer excellent, cheap, alternative ink to my Brother MFC-J425W. I bought this pack (1x B/Y/C/M) and a 3x Black pack before and both times the ink quality is fine. I'm a college student, who must turn in papers and assignments weekly and the ink lasted me nearly 3 months before I had to replace. A suggestion: please clean the ink as soon as you put it in. I printed a test page and it came out faded, with some lines missing altogether. The ink wasn't being drawn from the cartridge consistently, so I cleaned it to remove the bubbles and draw the ink out and the next page was fine.

I wanted to have a spare set of cartridges for my Canon MX870 printer. I researched several non-OEM vendors and found Sophia-Global as a preferred supplier. Sophia-Global is not just a re-seller or a one-person garage-type operation; they actually re-manufacture the printer cartridges in a leased 6,200 sq.ft. industrial facility in Lawrence, KS. Their manufacturing plant is certified to an ISO 9002 quality standard, so their product should have low defect rates.

Before purchasing their product I wanted to determine the compatibility with a Canon PIXMA MX870 printer. I contacted their customer service department and found their representative to be knowledgeable and courteous. I ordered the Sophia-Global 5-pack (C-221 (C,Y,M,B), C-220 BK) which was delivered in less than one week by US postal mail. The product was well packaged for shipping in a shipping envelope lined with bubble wrap. All cartridges were received in good condition (no damaged or leaking cartridges). The cartridges look almost identical to the original Canon cartridges including the electronic chip that sends signals for ink levels in each cartridge. I believe that these cartridges should work just fine in the MX870 printer. I will install these cartridges in my MX870 printer in a few months (after the current Canon cartridges are exhausted) and edit this post to include a product review about their performance.

11/15/2010 UPDATE: I installed the C-220 BK (large black ink cartridge) in my MX870 using the Sophia-Global instructions. The installation went smoothly with no leaking ink. During installation I compared the Canon and Sophia-Global cartridges and they are identical in design so there was no compatibility problems.The MX870 is running just find using the Sophia-Global C-220 BK cartridge.

These cartridges work great in my Canon MP620, and they are a fraction of the cost. I can get 2-5 packs for less than the price of one Canon ink cartridge. I've used every color and don't notice a bit of difference over the (much more expensive) Canon cartridges.

Buying non-oem cartridges is generally hit and miss. This ink set is about 1/3 the cost of OEM Canon inks. They were all recognized by my Pixma 4700 printer. I learned that you need to open 2nd manufacturer ink cartridges very carefully, holding the ink side up and dobbing the top of the ink to prevent spilling. Still blue ink spilled out onto the floor. I did a test color photo print and the quality was very poor, as expected. I would never use non-OEM inks for photos, but they work fine for documents where color quality and control are not important. Inkjet printer companies fleece consumers with the ink. I bought my Pixma printer for a mere seven dollars more than the cost of an ink set. Due to the ridiculously high prices of OEM inks, there are thousands of companies producing ink cartridges. As a photographer, I'm hoping that someday the OEM ink prices will be reduced or that non-OEM manufacturers will produce high quality ink at a more reasonable cost.

This ink from 77Ink arrived quickly, installed fine in my Canon MX860. I had to reseat the yellow once before the printer recognized it, but it worked fine after that. I printed out a picture at high quality on super glossy paper, and it came out better than the OEM ink did. I am a Web developer, doing graphics, html, programming, & print work, so I do a lot of printing out comps for my customers. This ink is super cheap and high quality. I will definitely use 77Ink again.

This product produces many many pages per cartridge compared with my other canon printers. The cost per page is very low, probably less than 2 cents per page low which is excellent for a non laser printer. the print quality is excellent and I have had no clogs. sharp deep black. A downside is that once it reaches a certain level of ink the printer will quit printing. period. you are done until you buy another. and the cartridge still contains some ink which is annoying. you don't get to use everything you paid for and you have no choice! also I have not figured out where i'm supposed to return the product to recycle it, it's not obvious how you are supposed to participate in their recycle programI think you are supposed to get a small refund for the return of the cartridge, but the details of how to do this are not obvious from the package so I may wind up throwing it out and loosing any refund. Over all though one of the better buys around. one star off for the unfair printer shut off until you buy an new cartridge trick, and for the unclear cartridge return policy.

Lexmark ink is not cheap, but this is the best price I've found. The good news is that the ink cartridges on my Lexmark PowerEdge Pro are ridiculously easy to swap out and my printer prints a lot of pages with each cartridge. also, Lexmark has a recycling program and will send a postage paid envelope to allow the old cartridge to be returned. Great idea and a great product.

Well, we all get sick when we have to buy replacement ink cartridges for our printers. Having been in the computer field for decades, I can say that this is entirely due to public opinion surveys. Early on, people said: "$400 is WAY too expensive for a printer!" and poof! We got our wish. They dropped the price of the printers and raised the price of the ink astronomically, so that after a year or two you're actually paying MORE than you would have with the expensive printer / cheap ink combination, but I digress. I know that many people swear by aftermarket ink, but I have to say that I have had several Epson printers develop unfixable clogs in the print head (which basically means throw away the printer) when I used several different brands of aftermarket ink. I have never had an unfixable clog using Epson ink, so take that for what it's worth. When you are comparing prices on Epson ink, make sure that you are comparing 98 cartridges to 98 cartridges. A lot of these Multi-Packs have a 98 Black cartridge, but all the rest are the low-yield 99 cartridges. Happy printing!

The ink is good. It looks good on the paper, and does not dry out, and does not clog the printhead, when the printer sits unused for a week. Some lower quality inks will do that.

I will not give more than 3 stars to any printer ink cartridge that has built in marketing controls (and most do). I do not like the built in expiration date (cartridge won't work in printer after date expiration, and therefor can not refill), and the cost is high (though on Amazon, cheaper than retail). I understand most printer companies sell their printers cheap, and make their money by selling proprietary ink cartridges, and I can see that this is also advantageous to the user, if the printer is replaced every two years or so.

As a general rant against all printer companies, I don't like being forced into buying ink in this manner, like being forced to buy a particular brand of gasoline for an automobile. But, if you have an HP printer, this ink works very well in it.

This is a good place to get these refills. In this day and age when the printer is a freebie it is the cost of the ink that matters. These were good value. I had tried the off brand and found them to be a waste of money as they wouldn't work without constant issues that the printer objected to. These are no problem.

Off brand replacement ink never works for me. This is the real enchilada and very well priced. No fancy package here...but who wants to pay for something that just gets tossed anyway?
