First week of use and I love this thing. Can't believe I've waited so long to order a CISS. Smooth install into my printer and no conflicts of any kind.

After running initial head cleaning and nozzle check maintenance, I immediately began printing without so much as a hiccup. The ciss works flawlessly. In the short-term this has been a perfect purchase. Hopefully this will remain the case long-term too.

Really wish I had gone this route with each of my inkjets over the past 20+ years of computing. Would have saved thousands on ink. Big mistake learned the hard way :/

Anyhow my only complaints are the instructions. There are none. At least not shipped with the product.

You have to go to the website and find your manufacturer and then search for and watch a related video to find out if you need the syringes or not, find out if you need to remove the black rubber stoppers and replace them with the clear covers or not, and to find out if you need to modify your printer in any way or not. Get any of this wrong and you'll have a mess on your hands -literally.

The sales page for this product said modification of my printer would be necessary. Once I watched the video I found out that was NOT the case. And I also found out (after the fact) that I needed to remove the black rubber stoppers. Problem is, once you do an initial printer setup the wells fill with ink. Removing the stoppers at this point will cause a mess. Yes, it happened to me. Big puddle all over my desk. About the diameter of a basketball. This stuff flows fast and thick!

At least this is water soluble ink. It washes off of everything non-porous with just water. Unfortunately not the same with skin. The stuff absorbs and bleeds through skin just like it does paper. So wear gloves and/or watch the videos to avoid making an unnecessary mess. And to avoid ending up with discolored fingers lasting several days.

So, no matter which printer you have find and watch the dang videos first. Don't assume. The setup is not the same for each printer manufacturer. Learn from my mistake.

Other than the poor/lack of printed documentation this is a perfect product. The ciss performance is not diminished by the lack of documentation. Just the amount of ink I have remaining to print with is diminished :p

Arrived quickly and took a few minutes to install. Worked fine and was easy to refill. Had to cut a small hole in the access door for the tubes to connect to the supply. Easy.

Seriously, I did not open the package to have a Quentin Tarantino style spurt of ink fly into my eyes and all over my floor. There were like two stray drops, that because I opened the ink carefully, instead of ripping the orange plastic thing off like the head of my mortal enemy who killed my entire family, the ink did not fly around the room painting children with the blood of a thousand Chinese children. They fit into the slots on the printer, and they are currently printing off pictures and documents very well, with no spatters of ink/blood.

So as long as you aren't Thor and plan on opening it with a hammer, or some schmo who opens ink cartridges by squeezing them until the orange plastic thing flies across the room and impales your cat, you should be safe ordering these. Also saving money like I save princesses in distress. Which is all the time. All of it.

I just can't get enough of this ink! I love it! it has a very good print an the ink last forever, I do a lot of picture printing and I mean a lot, I really can't tell the difference between this ink and the ink that you were to buy at the nearest department store. I've been using this ink for a while. I've never had a problem with the colors but once in a while the black ink will smear but ony when printing several pictures at the same time, not on plain paper.

I purchased this for an old Brother HL-1440 after the printer indicated I needed a new drum. It arrived in 2 days and was easy to install. The only glitch was resetting the print counter since it still showed that it needed a new drum. Brother factory drums do that automatically. With this one I had to do it manually as follows:

Open front cover. Hold down button located under LED's until all LED's are lit. Release button and make sure drum LED is off, then close cover.

After doing this the lights indicating the printer needed a new drum went out. Print quality has been fine and I see no difference between this an a factory drum.

The first black cartridge I used was rejected by my printer regardless of how many times I took it out and reinserted, turned off computer, etc. I put in a second black and so far so good but I am concerned as this is not a great price if I have to throw 50% away.

First of all, I get great results with Xerox ink sticks.

I am not too picky, but there are problems with other inks I have tried.

I have never been stuck unable to print with other inks, but I can tell you about the difference in quality because I have ran two other "generic" brands through my printer.

One of those brands is a major name in the non-genuine inks, but I will leave their name off this review because I found similar results with the other generic ink.

The generic brand inks all fed just fine through the printer, but in general it is MUCH easier to mistakenly put these inks in the wrong slot. May seem like a minor deal because the colors are obvious, but I once accidentally dropped one and it fell in the wrong slot. It was a real pain to dig it back out. With Xerox inks the shapes are much better designed to only fit in the correct slot.

Then there is the print quality. For most colors, it's "decent", not exceptional with the generics. Maybe not a big enough difference for most people to pay extra for the Xerox.

The BLACK ink is a big difference. Off brands are not black, they are charcoal grey. And this is just the most obvious color issue. The other colors with Xerox inks are all more rich.

But the BIG issue is darkening. In my printer, if I am not printing volumes such that I run through the ink in a month, the ink DARKENS and oxidizes in the printer. Then the colors look awful. Everything printed looks sort of sepia toned. Yuck. How do you fix it? You have to print through all your ink on roughly 100 pages of solid color (i.e. 100 pages of cyan if the cyan is oxidized, etc)!! The vendor told me to run through ALL MY INK to get rid of what's in the printer. It's all trashed! Then, this super high volume of ink printing generated streaks on those print colors which took another several hundred pages to eliminate.

It's just not worth the hassle. I switched back to nothing but Xerox now, and it's been much nicer.

I'd give Xerox inks 5 stars if they could just bring the price down about 15% or so.

I stock an extra supply of ink, so it's often sitting in my drawer for a few months before I unwrap each block of ink. One of the three in this package was broken, and it's unusable. I contacted the vendor when I opened it and saw the problem. I asked for a replacement, but would have been happy with a partial credit. Here is their response. I'm trying to find a way to contact Amazon about this, since it's been more than 30 days since I placed the order. I haven't found that, so I'm posting here.

The outside packages were not damaged it came looking fine, but the ink inside the package was broken in two.

I have inserted two of these as replacements in my Epson Artisan 710 So far, indistinguishable from Epson cartridges. My printer recognizes them, reads the level of ink, and the colors look unchanged.

If my experience changes, I'll come back here and report that.

This has to be one of the most expensive, smallest capacity ink cartridges on the market. I go through three of these for every color cartridge. The C64 may have a low price, but the ink is a killer. I'm donating the printer to the Goodwill and saying goodbye to Epson. I can't afford this high cost of printing. And generics clog the nozzles.

I have to replace the cartridge for 20-25 pages of printing on a normal print. No photos or dark fonts. C64 is the only printer I have seen that requires a Black Cartdrige replacement way ahead of the Color even though I print lot of color pages. Think twice before you buy this.

I am on my second Epson printer, the first having been clogged using Epson inks. I have done a lot of research, and the issue is complex. First, there are two main types of ink, pigment based and dye based. Epson Durabright inks are pigment based inks. These produce better, longer lasting, and more water proof prints. However, they also clog the printer much more readily than dye based inks. Secondly, if you use your printer infrequently, the pigment inks are even more likely to clog.

So, if you use your printer a lot, and need the highest quality prints, use Durabright. Avoid 3rd party pigment based inks because variations in pigment particle size worsen the clogging potential. However, if you use your printer infrequently, or don't care about long lasting prints, and want to save some money, use 3rd party dye based inks. These are less prone to clog and are way cheaper. Apparently, mixing pigment and dye can be a problem, and there are various methods to online to purge the printer when switching. I've found that just printing a lot after switching is ok.

What, you noticed that ink vendors don't mention which type in their ads? Are you surprised?

I have an epson cx4600, which on the surface looks to be a bargain, at $80. But the ink costs $60 to replace (3 colors and black) and the black, which I use mostly, costs twice the color ink.

But here's the real jab, I don't print too much and the ink got clogged some. It says to clean the print heads, and then print a test pattern. Well, the test pattern did not show completely clean, and so I repeated it 5 times. Then to my horror, I saw that each cleaning cleans ALL cartriges, and after the 5 cleanings, I was down to 50% ink. They don't have a way to clean just the black cartrige (or a specific color). I tried faking it out by saying i was replacing the ink in one cartrige (pull the black out and then back in) and it almost got the thing unclogged, but on the second try at this it got worse.

Bottom line, they give away the printers then get you by selling you high priced ink. The size of the cartrige is miniscule and I think you could probably only get about 20-30 full page images printed for about $50-60 worth of ink.

This ink is as described and extremely permanent. I recommend wearing disposable gloves when refilling whatever you are using the ink for. It takes a little longer for the ink to dry on glossy surfaces, but it dries immediately on cardboard and paper.
