This product does work, but the color quality leaves much to be desired, the black prints gray & the other colors are drab. but for printing school work it will suffice.

The cartridges fit the machine well, though they are not the same size as the originals. The amount of ink seems to be much less than the originals too....and one factor in that was ink squirted out when i removed the tape before putting it in. the blue (cyan) is already gone after a few pages were printed. Overall though, for us, is not a big issue since I just wanted to have color ink in there so the black and white would work (as this model of brother printer is made so it will stop printing black and white if one color cartridge is empty).

Update-06May13-I was contacted by this company in a timely manner and given instructions on how to force my printer to accept these ink cartridges, which works perfectly. I am now able to use these in my printer. I greatly appreciate the wonderful customer service and the additional instructions on making these compatible with my printer. I will absolutely use this company again!!!

Original Review 03May13: I received these within 24 hours of my order, as requested. However, these are useless to me, so I have wasted almost $60.00 and still have to buy new Epson printer cartridges. My Epson WF-3540 gives me an error message every time I try to use them and tells me I can only use ink cartridges directly from Epson. I can not use these at all in my printer. What a waste of my time and money.......off to buy some Epson printer cartridges that will actually work in my Epson printer!

I contacted the customer support and they promptly replaced the problematic cartridge for me. However, after some trial and error, I ended up realizing that there might be some kind of issue in the cartridge's chip placement. I put this black cartridge aside with the original cartridge and I was able to see that the chips placements on both cartridges were not matching. There was a half millimeter gap between them (actually the Blake cartridge chip was a little bit lower than the Epson cartridge chip).

So, my conclusion was that if I could leave the cartridge not too low inside the cartridge holder, it could possibly fix my issue. Guess what? It fixed the issue!

Basically, the procedure I used to get it running was to push it firmly into the cartridge holder until I heard a clicking sound, after that I pulled the cartridge out as much as I could without touching its clip (this would ensure that the cartridge would be as high as possible, but without being misplaced). After that, I just closed everything and voila! It worked! Hope this tip helps you!

Original review: My printer is a WF-3520. When I installed the black cartridge in it, the printer simply didn't recognize it. I tried to reinstall it many times, but the printer would either complain that the cartridge was incorrectly installed or that it was not recognized. Now I'll have to waste more of my time to return this product. So, in few words, if you want to buy a headache, go for this product.

I received my order in a very timely manner. I have just today replaced my first cartridge out of my new Epson WF-3540. The opening of the new one was easy. The instruction did not say whether the entire strip of tape or just the yellow tab would pull off. Mine broke, so I pulled the rest of it off and it was stuck really good. The orange plastic tab came off easy. I removed the old cartridge and shook it to see if any ink remained, but it sounded empty. I shook the new one, black, and got ink all over my hands. It appears that the hole in the cartridge that the plastic yellow tab covers are open to the ink well. I wiped it off put it in my machine and a printing it went.

I have had my Epson 2400 printer for 4 years now. Still going strong, produces great pictures. Epson ink is very good. But just like any other inkjet printer. They are making quit a bit of money on the ink. A whole inkset for this printer is $100 at a discounted price. And in the years since it has been out and replaced by a newer updated unit. The price of the ink has not gone down. But what can you do. Once you buy the printer your stuck with buying their ink until you get a differnt printer.

I have always had great luck with Epson printers and ink. I have used them exclusively for my photography. Maybe I never appreciated them enough in the past. I recently bought another brand printer for my church. The ink cartridges on the competitor's printer are a real mess to change and leak everywhere. This has never been the case with my Epson printers. I guess I will appreciate Epson more in the future.

The Epson Photo Stylus R2400 printer that I have is a great printer for photographers, but the inks are hard to find locally. the nearest place to me to buy them is 15 miles away. It does not make since to drive that far with gas prices what they are, not to mention my time spent driving. With Amazon Prime I put in an order and 2 days later I receive the ink with no shipping charge. This is the way to go for a busy photographer.

There are two places I can find ink for my R2400 other than amazon. Adorama (which sells them in amazon) and Atlex.

Both are almost the same as far as pricing except Adorama's shipping is free. Atlex is close to my studio so I can drive there if I want to pick up some ink or paper the same day if it is required.

On a side note I hate that companies try to force you to upgrade and create landfills of these machines that work well. I had to run a special program to stop the printer from auto-stopping which Epson does to make sure the quality of it's prints doesn't diminish which is another way of saying that you need to throw away the machine and buy another. Planned Obsolescence in other words. I hope to continue using this printer for several more years. The price of ink has gone up every year and it used to cost $9 and now it's up to $13 per cartridge.

After about $25 between the price of the cartridge and the shipping the ink cartridge died after printing only a few pages. I know nothing is wrong with my printer I've checked everything else. (2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)I purchased the HP Officejet J4580 All In One Printer which included a color and this black cartridge. After about 120 pages, the machine displayed that I was almost out of black ink and had ¾ of color ink left. This made sense as I usually print text documents only. For the last week, it showed I was completely out of black ink, but I was still able to print about 15 more black text sheets. I imagine it will totally stop printing any text instead of fading out. I was already aware that most printers will use up a lot of black ink and some will suck it dry within a few weeks. It's difficult to gauge ink usage, as it pertains to what you are printing, how much you are printing and the amount of color vs. black ink.

For the price and what I was able to print out, I'm fairly satisfied. However, this ink in not readily available in stores (i.e., Best Buy), so you need to buy on-line. Printers are less expensive than ten years ago, so these companies make money on ink purchases. Still, it's cheaper than spending 5 cents a copy at a copy store, especially when using color.
