On the third onegreat! They do have an odor, slight, for about 10 seconds after printing, but I am completely satisfied. I use about one black cart a week, so the ink does not have enough time to dry up in it. Maybe that's a problem for others, but not for me.

These ink cartridges don't work well, and my printer requires constant cleaning to operate properly. I won't be purchasing more. This is unfortunate because I really don't like having to pay a premium for the manufacturer's cartridges.

I have two P4015x printers non stop 2 days in a row. I used to purchase a toners twice as much and got the same use out of it. i don't see print quality difference between this one and the other ones. the toners don't leak and cause paper jams. the biggest problem is when toners leak and you waste a lot of time trying to save the good prints and the bad prints. i don't have that problem with these toners. i am purchasing more and will keep you posted on their performance.

I normally purchase the Canon Combo Pack (twice in the last year) which comes with a color cartridge in addition to this specific black ink only cartridge. My kids have decided they need to print out a lot of text for school this year and have been going through the ink at a rate that I can verify is about 300 pages per this exact same black ink cartridge (Canon PG-240-XL). I've never had technical problems with these cartridges, but they're pretty typical of inkjet prices and capacities. If you need them for your printer (mine is a Canon PIXMA MX432) you need them. For the price I paid it does work out to a tad less than 7 cents per page (I rounded up).

Storage time is rated at 24 months and I'm looking somewhere for a bulk purchase of this specific cartridge since the color ones aren't needed that often. I'd happily buy a 3 or 4 pack for a per cartridge discount, but no luck so far.

Hard to "love" inkjet cartridges, but given the lack of any real problems, four out of five stars.

NOTE: If my offspring continue to gobble up black ink I'll probably step up to the apparently more (per page) cost effective Canon PG-240 Double X (XXL) ink cartridge and update this review.

Had the regular sized 240 cartridge prior and it ran out pretty quick. Have printed about 30 pages so far without any signs of running out. Installation went well. I did not have any issues with the cartridge arriving empty or dry like others did. Might be a packaging or QA problem.

It's cheaper to purchase the combo black and color cartridges than to purchase each separately. If you do any color printing, I'd suggest getting the combo pack even if you don't need to replace the colored ink quite yet. You can hold onto it and replace the color later. But if you only do black and white printing, it's a good option.

Fits and works great on our Canon MG 3200 series printer. This is my first replacement cart for this printer and the original factory installed cartridge claimed to be out of ink long before it actually was. So have a spare cartridge ready but don't be too quick to change it out.

It showed up in a plastic baggy (no box like the picture) and it weighs about half what it should weigh new. I order these all the time and as soon as I pulled it out of the shipping box I noticed how light it felt. I even pulled the one that is in use by the printer now and compared weights and this one was about 50 grams lighter, that's a lot considering the weight new is only about 150 grams.

I'm very disappointed about my purchase. I'm sending it back and just buying from office depot or staples instead.

I just finally opened this package after purchasing it in August, and installed the cartridge today. It appears to be full and is printing okay, but I get this annoying little bouncing announcement every time I print. I am shocked. The packaging appeared to be genuine. Too bad.

HP charges too much for its ink cartridges but remanufactured and off-brand replacements are risky. So I reluctantly stick with HP (plus their printers are quite good). However, you can buy cartridges directly from HP for less than the price here. Make sure to search for and enter coupon codes when ordering from HP, and you'll save a couple of bucks.

I see that this product is not getting good reviews so I wanted to chime in. I am a medical student and I go through a lot paper and instinctively A LOT OF INK. I think that the ink problem has to do a lot with the printer itself. I have the HP officejet J4580 All-in-one and it is very good at saving a lot of ink. If you put your printer on fast draft you can get a lot of ink for your money. I am not suggesting you buy a new printer, but maybe putting your documents on fast draft might help you get a lot of pages. Also, if you are printing out pictures, you wont get a lot of paper for your ink. I print out a lot of word documents that have red and black and so far I am pretty happy at how INK 901 is doing on my printer. Hope this helps people. Remember, FAST DRAFT always.

Until Kodak came out with a printer that uses a very inexpensive cartridge, all the dot matrix printer manufacturers were able to get away with building and selling horrifically-complex, very high-priced ink cartridges because there was no alternative. As I understand it, the Kodak printer has very poor performance, so there is still no effective competition to the high-priced cartridge manufacturers. That implies that, until Kodak builds an adequate printer, you can complain about HP 901XL yielding far fewer pages than advertised, but your complaints have no effect because there is no competition.

Printing single-spaced text with normal margins, and 11 pt. type, I get about 300 pages out of a 901XL cartridge. Clearly, any claims of 700 pages per cartridge are based on an unrealistic estimation of the amount of ink laid down per page. That's unrealistic, not fraudulent. But, certainly deceptive by any reasonable definition thereof. It is this kind of abuse by an effective monopoly that infuriates the public, who will instantly switch to another brand once an alternative is available. HP is trashing any customer loyalty they once had.

I got excited when I saw the 901xl advertised, but I never got over half of the 700 pages it is advertised for. I feel that the company owes a refund for false advertisement. I bought this cartridge on the 7th of April and it's already out! It's definitely not worth paying the extra money for a supposed 3x the printing capacity if it's not true. I don't even print a lot. I got approximately 60 pages out of this cartridge. I bought the cartridge from Staples so I'm not sure if I should say shame on Staples for selling this product or HP for selling a product that doesn't live up to its hype. Buyer beware.

There are numerous posts on the 901 and 901xl about low number of pages printed for the moneyso what do you do? Make an impacts with your dollars and actions: I've had good expereince with the refill kits by non-HP vendors (just do it outside and do wear the gloves to protect from any ink droplets). I'm sure I'm not supposed to mention names here, so google the HP cartride-type you want and then find a refill kit vendor that is highly rated. It's pretty easy to do. Maybe HP will address the situation/product value per dollar if their cartridge business falls off sharply? As most folks knowmost companies in this space make more profit from the replacement cartidges than the printer/copier/hardware themselves.

You have to follow the instructions very closely or else you will have ink everywhere. The problem with these refills is you don't know for sure that your ink cartridge is "empty" and needs refill. For example, if your cartridge is still with ink and you go to refill it, you could "overfill" and there will be ink drops everywhere. My printer never worked after I put the cartridges in. Best to get a replacement cartridge.

Tried it with my canon printer.. works very well.. make sure you insert the needle all the way (such that no more than 6mm is exposed)and it is very easy to refill.

We use about one of these per month in our Dell 3010CN for very heavy office use. We had tried one other brand that failed to perform due to a chip issue, but this one works just fine. It fools the mechanism that's supposed to keep you from using anything but massively over-priced Dell OEM cartridges. Absolutely no fails, it worked just fine in our machine.

I bought a set of these LD cartridges for our 3010cn. They've been sitting on the shelf waiting for the OEM cartridges to run out. The black one was the first, so I installed the LD cartridge.

After a while, the printer started having problems with a blank, unprinted strip down the right hand side of the paper. Searching for what would cause this lead to suggestions that it may be toner leaking, and to open the door and use the cleaning wand vigorously to clean up the imaging strip. This worked OK for a few sheets, then the blank stripe came back.

I pulled the LD cart and sure enough, it's almost falling apart and leaking toner badly where the two halves come together. It's a very different, much more lightweight assembly than the OEM.

I'm ordering a set of OEM cartridges and dumping the remaining ones in the trash, even though it's going to cost me (I ordered these quite a while ago so can't return them). I don't want to ruin this printer just to save a few bucks.

This cartridge worked ok, at first. After about 100 pages of incidental printing I started having "ghost" images. When I removed the cartridge to check for problems a piece came off spilling ink dust everywhere. I could not get it back together. I put the Dell OEM cartridge back in and all was fine. I've tried "compatible" cartridges several times over the years and have NEVER been the quality of the OEM. I've learned my lesson for good.

I've owned a Z43 purchased back in 2001 knowing that replacement ink cartridges would be pricey (personal laser jets were not affordable even when my tech heavy portfolio was doing well). However, I was willing to make that tradeoff since the printer was highly rated and reasonably priced. My color printing requirements are relatively modest, about 1-2 pages/week. Here is a review of this product with a historical perspective.

2001 cartridges: Excellent

2002 cartridges: Good

2003 cartridges: Fair

2004 cartridges: Extremely poor

Over the years, the quality of the cartridges has deteriorated significantly along with the quality of the retail packaging. I've always bought from reputable retailers, including Amazon, but who knows whether these retailers were buying authentic cartridges or unknowingly moving counterfeits that were slipped into the wholesale channels?

My most recent and FINAL purchase of the 15M0120 color cartridge was from Target last month (July 04). I print in color about once a week, and the cartridge was dead in one month. Good thing that I bought it on sale for only $25, since those four color prints cost me ONLY $6.25 each...

I attempted to exchange it but even Target with its GENEROUS return/exchange policy politely told me to call their corporate 800-number. The Target voice response system then referred me to a Lexmark 800 number. After being placed on hold for tech support even though I wanted to make a warranty claim, I finally gave up. For kicks, I checked Lexmark's website only to find out that problems with printing supplies are supposed to be handled with the retailer.

THUS, NEITHER THE RETAILER NOR MANUFACTURER WILL STAND BEHIND THIS PRODUCT.

It's not worth my time to pursue this matter any further, but I figure that a review of the product is my way of saying GOODBYE.

(BTW, I haven't had any problems with the black ink cartridges 12A1970.)

Printers have a way of selling relatively cheap, knowing that the money is not in the printer itself but the ink. This is true for Lexmark. It is also true for every other printer of any quality. Point being, yes, my Lexmark cartridges are expensive, and occasionally I buy the cheap re-fill carts, but nevertheless, the Z51 is an awesome printer that I will own for years!

I ordered a combo-pack of ink for my Kodak ESP 3250 printer. I chose Data Products ink from Gener Ink through Amazon. I could rave about these cartridges forever! I took the old ones out, put the replacements in and away we went! Nothing could be easier! The price was great too! I'm looking forward to getting reasonably priced ink for my HP printer(s). I have always been able to print all of my documents in draft mode when utilizing OEM ink, but with this ink I have to print in normal or even best mode in order to achieve average results--which means that achieving anything in better than normal quality is not even possible.

I had all OEM toners and replaced all 4 with this set. I had printed a color test page before and after the swap the colors with OEM cartridges are slightly brighter and mix smootherespecially near-white colors. The aftermarket cartridges also left some random specks on the page. Considering these are about 18% the cost of the OEM, I think it's a good deal for the price. I'd say they're about 90% as good as OEM quality.

Update to initial review:

As you can read below, the order did not go well, but the company responded twice, on two separate issues, and kept at it until I was happy. I admire this response.

A few days after I wrote the below review, the printer stopped working. The company responded by email, always quickly, and I explained what I had done and what was wrong. They asked me to look at the small numbers on the sensors, and they confirmed, after I sent them pictures, that the sensors were the wrong ones for the perfectly fitting cartridges (they didn't say "Dell 3130"). They promised to send four new sensors, and they did, although they took several days to arrive. I installed the "new" sensors on the cartridges, and now all appears to be well. The color printouts look very good, and I am not getting ominous warnings from the printer. So I would raise the rating from 3 stars to 3.5 stars if I could, because despite the hassles, the company followed up and resolved the problems. They really appear to be trying.

The sad thing is that this would have been a five star review if they had shipped faster and with the right sensors: the printer works fine now, and the price is good.

Eleven days after ordering, I still hadn't received the order. I emailed the company, Toner Tap, and they apologized via email the next day, and they offered to rebate half the shipping, and told me the package would arrive the next day, which I already knew because of the tracking info, but twelve days is too long. Toner Tap then asked me to give them a better rating than the two stars I'd proposed, after they credited my card. It was not a quid pro quo, but rather an after-the-fact request.

So I installed the cartridges, and because (apparently) the sensors did not have the small prongs that the original ones had, the printer gave an error message and said to "call support". I pried the sensors off of the old cartridges, and snapped them on the ones from Toner Tap, and they then installed and printed okay, but the printer still thinks that the cartridges are empty, which is irritating, and might cause angst later, although I'm not sure.

So I'm not sure how to rate them: the Toner Tap ones are a lot cheaper than the high priced Dell ones, and the company responded quickly and with an offer of cash, which I appreciate, although faster shipping would have been better. And I added one star for the fast, sincere response.

But these cartridges aren't an exact replacement, at least on my printer, and that is frustrating. Many people would likely not know to pry off the sensors, and they'd end up shipping these back.

Next time, I'll probably order another set of non-OEM, as the pricing on the Dell ones is crazy high, but I will likely try another vendor, with the hope of faster shipping and more importantly, a cartridge which is 100 percent compatible with the printer.

Hp Print Cartridges are my personal preference due to the wonderful color reproduction and appearance of the finished product. It dries quite rapidly and the finished print has a professional look to it. I purchase them from Amazon because of the price which is about half the price I was paying at my local retailer.
