I was not sure about this, because I had read that Epson is making it so their ink is the only ink that will work in their printers. I had done ink refilling back in the early 200's when it was a messy, unpredictable thing I needed vice grips for, so I figured it had to be easier than that. I didn't think it would be THAT easy, though. I anticipated some problems. I had just bought the printer (Epson Workforce 545 in June 2012), so figured whatever Epson had done recently, it would apply to my printer. Well, I followed the instructions to the letter, and it just worked. The only thing you have to remember is even on the cartridges that come already filled, you still have to reset the chip by touching the two dots with a piece of metal. They recommend a paper clip, but I used a palette knife because it was handy. All you have to do is take off the air vent caps, touch the two dots, plug it in like normal, run the head cleaning cycles, and it works. The ink gets used faster than the 127 extra high yield ink, but stretches as far as the OEM 126 ink that is only high yield. I've never used 125 regular yield, so I don't know about that. You're still saving a whole bunch of money this way. This was so much easier than refill ink used to be. I would even suggest this to my mother, who is 82 years old and thinks that the internet is an actual place a physical location. It's really that easy. Just make sure you remove the vent caps, reset the chips, and run through TWO cleaning cycles, as directed. Piece of cake.

I can't believe the reviewers who've poo-pooed these great cartridges. For one thing, they're all over the Internet, so they must be reliable. Two reviewers noted that 'ink is messy'. Well, welcome to the real world. But I've been using refillable cartridges for 10 years, since before they had chips, and these are the easiest to fill that I've used so far. Since removing the empty cartridges can involve some messiness, I'd suggest that you do what the pros do: use paper towels to protect surfaces that aren't plastic since it easily wipes off, and buy some of those cheap, clear plastic gloves that you're Supposed to be using whenever you deal with icky stuff.
Aside from these minor issues, I've noticed that some instructional documentation doesn't mention that you have to physically reset the chips by shorting the two gold dots just above the main circuit traces (gold, squiggly lines on the bottom portion of the chips). I recommend you use tweezers since everybody has a pair around the house, and the dots are about as far apart as the tweezers' tips when relaxed. The contacts have to be 'shorted' for about 5 secs, which means that a miniscule electric charge is going to go from one dot to the other to balance, or 'zero out', any voltage stored in the chips which represents information that the printer uses to count how many pages the cartridges have printed. After a per-determined # of pages have been printed, the printer assumes that they are empty and won't allow you to print with these 'used' cartridges even if you refill them. That's how these companies try to protect their profit 'turf', by restricting the use of cartridges in these printers to either their OEM cartridges or validly licensed substitutes by third-party companies. Shorting the dots and draining this 'juice' makes the cartridges appear as new to the printer.
Also, be sure that the ink is made from 'dye', as opposed to the other variations, and be wary of ultra-cheap ink.
Now you'll be able to print All the friggin' time, on-the-cheap, which is so cool.

I have a Epson NX430. Printer did not recognize cartridges. This cartridge is not the type you can reset. I tried everything including re-loading the cartridges several times, turning the printer on and off, cleaning the contacts. Nothing works. This cartridge is not for this model. It may work with other printer models, but not with the Epson NX430. Its totally useless and money wasted.
