yep. there is no escaping it, the hardware often looks cheap and then you are hit with the ink costs. In this case, we were totally surprised on how cheap this cost and how long it lasted compared with our old HP printer. We love our Lexmark printer, so if you are seeking a new printer/scanner/ etc then make sure you factor in the cost of the ink. With Amazon, it always makes sense to check out the prices too. Very easy to install and there is a return envelope for used ink cartridges: very green. There are also ink kits to add ink to your cartridge, which Amazon sells and we will try this as another way to be green to the environment and will update this review.

True black ink. The cartridge is easy to install. Although all printer ink is way too expensive and doesn't really produce as many QUALITY pages as stated on the box, Lexmark is a slightly better buy than some other brands. Shop around for the best price if like mine, your printer doesn't work as well with generic ink cartridges.

I received it in 4 days and installed. Printer recommended a clean cycle but I skipped it, and had no problems. Printed great on first try.

The nice thing about buying ink from the manufacturer is you know it will work and give good quality printing. This is certainly the case with this ink from Lexmark. The cartridge slips perfectly into place and is immediately printing deep black print. No issues with the quality on this unit. I just have the usual rant about a product that costs 50 cents to make is being sold for $15.

Pros:

o high quality ink

o 100% compatible

o relatively inexpensive (in the larger context of how much one might pay for ink for other printers)

Cons:

o I would still like to see ink at about 1/2 the price... I know, I'm dreaming...

Overall if you have a Lexmark printer, this is excellent ink.

Works well. When I opened it, I leaked everywhere. I have an unopened one because I ordered 2. The price was good, but you need to be standing over a sink or over newspaper to open.
