I have a Deskjet 6940 and the color ink works fine BUT every time I start a color print my computer warns we that I don't have a Tri-color cartridge. Really weird, but the thing still works fine.

Our printer (HP photosmart 2600) essentially stopped working because it said the color cartridge was defective suddenly. I read online stories of people buying $45 replacement cartridges and the printer ruining THOSE cartridges as well. I like my printer, but not enough to gamble $45 on it. I finally decided it was time to either fix it or throw it away, so I found a cheap replacement cartridge to give it a shot. I figured if it didn't work it was only about $5 down the drain.

Well, it DID work! And now I can print again! (And scan, and copy)

When I first installed the cartridge a message popped up and said something about a remanufactured cartridge or something but I just pressed "OK" and it went on with the alignment process and then it was good to go. It has not given me any other messages since then and it's been printing fine. Also, the shipping, which was FREE, was also quite quick, i'll be back next time I need a cartridge.

The cartridge was delivered promptly. I installed it ans it works as good as an original equipment manufacturer cartridge. I couldn't be happier especially considering the price.

After just a few pages of color printing, my HP Photosmart 8400 rejected this cartridge, saying it had failed. I knew from previous reviews that an HP printer might show a refilled cartridge as empty, but it should still work. And I did get some "cartridge empty" or similar messages, which I ignored, and printing continued -I thought all was fine. But, as noted, soon my printer refused to print in color, saying the cartridge had failed and needed to be replaced. Nothing I did could make the printer print in color again, until I gave in and installed a genuine HP #97 ink cartridge, when all was fine again. The genuine HP ones are bone-headedly overpriced, we consumers are being soaked. BUT... they work. I had passed the "return for refund" date, but in a phone call Amazon agreed to refund my purchase price and I returned the small cartridge to them. While Printronic may produce some refills that work, I did not get one and I now feel put off from trying again.
