I've been using these refillable ink cartridges in my last three Epson printers. Since I print a lot of BD-R, DVD+R and CDR discs, this makes for a very economical way to keep full cartridges in my printers.

One of the things that isn't clear in the directions is that you need to remove the colored tabbed plugs and leave them off when you begin printing. To repeat, the plugs need to be removed and left off when you begin printing. Never put them back on after filling with ink, otherwise, you'll prevent air flow through the cartridge. This will result in negative pressure in the cartridge as the printer operates and ink flow will cease. Once I figured this out on my own, the cartridges have worked flawlessly. Also, when I bought my printer, I had intentions of using refillable cartridges from the get-go, so I knew not to apply any software or firmware updates from Epson and I blocked any communication between my printer and the web using Windows Firewall. Printer manufacturers are notorious for designing updates to foil the use of generic ink refills, and forcing consumers to purchase only Epson cartridges and increasing company profits.
I also bought an external waste ink tank through ebay. Amazon doesn't seem to offer them. Anyway, during the cleaning process, ink is pumped through the print head and ejected via a tube into an internal waste ink pad. Eventually, the pad saturates, the printer ceases up and is no longer usable. With the waste ink tank, that ink gets pumped into the external tank that then can be mixed with black ink to be reused. I mix it 1 part waste ink to 2 parts black ink and there is virtually no noticeable difference. Seeing the quantity of wasted ink is an eye-opener. Let's just say that I think at least as much, if not more, ink is wasted than actually used for printing.
Consume less, recycle/reuse what you can. These cartridges are a great way to leave a smaller carbon footprint.
