Ordered and received a "2 Pack" of 901XL black cartridges first cartridge was a failure from the start printer only printed jibberish. Thought my printer had failed so reloaded printer software but problem remained. Tried previous virtually empty cartridge and problem disappeared. Conclusion: one of the brand new cartridges was defective. Installed second brand new cartrdge and all was well. Called supplier who seemed to be aware of the problem; after some discussion he offered replacement. Now, after barely a week and less than 10 pages of printing, the second brand new cartridge from the "2 pack" has gone bad. Same problem jibberish printing another defective new cartridge. Have never had this experience with HP cartridges before. Buyer beware of this supplier!

To start with, the product pictured is of a genuine OEM 901XL black cartridge. What was sent was a re-manufactured non-OEM cartridge, model number "NH-RO0654 (No.901xl Black) For use with: HP OfficeJet J4524/J4540/J4550 HY Black". On the bottom it said Use before: with no date listed. Thankfully, TonerPals stands behind the guarantee on the back. The first one just plain old didn't work. The cartridge came in a sealed plastic package along with the standard foam clip and tape over the output. The printer printed a test page then refused to print ANYTHING after that. After emailing tonerpals (since no phone number can be found anywhere, though if you have an issue, call Amazon, they can get you in touch with them), they got back to me after a few days. They did an advanced RMA at no cost to me (Emailed me a prepaid shipping label and sent a new cartridge so I wouldn't be without ink). This next cartridge worked for a few days, maybe a week or two before the same issue occurred. Tonerpals then offered to replace it or refund it. I decided to go with a replacement. This one worked for 2 weeks or so, then the heads started getting jammed. I ran a cleaning cycle which worked for about 2 pages. Now certain heads just don't print. At this point, they will be refunding the cost of the cartridge and I'll be sending it back at their expense (I emailed them and they replied, but I still have not gotten the label to print). Don't cheap out like I did....

This lasted me a year. I'm in college and I print all my papers and handouts. I'm still amazed by how long this lasts. Its very much worth it.

I prefer manufacturer cartridges to generic and remanufactured. The "XL" version does last a lot longer than regular ink cartridges so it's worth the money. Reasonably priced for manufacturer product.
