Good brand. The only problem I have is when the inks run low and not out, the printer starts giving print error messages.

I had an Epson color inkjet printer two years ago. I exclusively used Epson ink cartridges until a reseller told me that I could save money by using his refilled cartridges. I bought the refilled cartridges and the resulting printer output was horrible. What was worse was that when I switched back to Epson ink cartridges, the print output never equaled its previous state.

What does the above have to do with my review of the Brother LC41C? Simple, that I refuse to use refilled cartridges, thus I am limited to the OEM cartridges. That being said, I have been very pleased with the LC41C. The ink lasts a fairly long time for me and the print output has not decreased from when I purchased the printer. I feel that the cost is reasonable, given that most printer manufacturer strive to make their profit by selling the ink cartridges.

In summary, I am very pleased with the cartridge' performance and price.

I thought switching from HP to another manufacturer was going to help out in cutting down on ink costs, but in the end they are all the same. This tank has average life, but not nearly as expensive as HP.

This printer uses all ink colors even if you don't print! Every so often it primes the ink through all the cartridges. So yes, your friend can be using everything even if she never prints black.

Worse yet, as previously mentioned, as soon as ANY ink color goes low it will stop printing all together. Forget trying to get out those last few copies it shuts down and refuses to even try even if ink is sloshing around in the low cartridge. If magenta is low, it won't even print out a standard black text.

The separate colors were a good idea, but it uses all the ink so fast that you are constantly buying all the new cartridges anyway.

The main complain is the problem with the knock offs being read by the machine which gives an "empty cartridge" message. The OEM are more apt to read by the machine with no errors. The price of OEM ink is very cost prohibitive for my business use, I purchased several knock off brands and had some trouble with printer not reading correct ink levels. I am on the fence with a repurchase of this ink because the price it so low. In the case I find a dud to have to repurchase is a nominal financial lost only a inconvenience to reorder and replace.

Pros: Price, Fast shipping

Cons: Few Duds "empty cartridge" error message.
