I bought these inks for my Canon Pixma MX882. I was a little apprehensive about buying off-brand inks, since I've never done it before and have heard the horror stories from others. Finally I decided to risk it just because of the incredible price difference between this and OEM ink from Canon.

When I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was a card from LD Products that said "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed" and gave a toll-free number to call with questions. The next thing that caught my eye was the fact that the inks were very nicely and securely packaged. As far as removing the ink from the protective packaging goes, it was not nearly as difficult as some of the reviews had me fearing, just remember to push in the clear tab when taking off the orange cover (makes sense when you see it). Of course, none of that would mean anything if the ink doesn't work.

I installed the four smaller (color) cartridges into the printer (since those were the ones that had run out) and the installation was exactly like installing OEM ink. I didn't have to wedge or pry in any way, since the cartridges are the exact same dimensions as the ones I was removing. The printer immediately recognized all four cartridges and displayed full ink levels. I printed out a Nozzle pattern test without any flaws. I then printed out a very colorful, high contrast, and highly detailed photograph and it came out looking absolutely fantastic. I was also able to print out a full color PowerPoint slide without difficulty or flaws. I have not yet been able to test the large black cartridge yet, but I will update the review once the one currently in my printer runs out and I've been able to run the inks for a little while. Right now, however, all signs say that I may never buy OEM inks again.

UPDATE: I have now installed the main black ink cartridge and used it for a couple of weeks. Flawless. Worked exactly like the OEM cartridge. The color cartridges (which have now been installed for over 2 months are still going strong and working beautifully. They even seem to be lasting significantly longer than the previous OEM cartridge, which is yet another an unexpected advantage.

UPDATE NUMBER 2: I just used the last two cartridges from the box and repeated the order. It is now the end of December so I was able to get over 8 months of printing out of this package with absolutely no degradation of performance or print quality. Absolutely the best decision that I could have made to go with this instead of the OEM ink.

The following only applies to the pigment-based black ink in the PGI225 cartridge. My experience with the other cartridges, which have dye-based inks, has been good.

Purchasers of this set of cartridges and any other cartridge set from LD that has the PGI225 cartridge should not do it if it is "Fulfilled by Amazon." I purchased set of LD cartridges for my PIXMA MG8120 and have found that the ink used by LD in the PGI225 clogs the Canon print head.

Very soon after installing the PGI225 cartridge, I started having problems with the print head clogging. I'd seen this problem before in other printers when inferior pigment-based inks were used in compatible cartridges. If these inferior cartridges aren't removed from the printer quickly after the problems arise, you can end up with a worthless print head that will cost $50 or more to replace. I know this from hard-won experience.

I immediately removed the offending cartridge and replaced it with a Canon cartridge. The clogging problem went away, confirming the problem was with the ink in LD's cartridge rather than the print head itself. LD warrants their cartridges for a year, and since I purchased the cartridges much less than a year ago, I contacted LD about the problem. They said that because I purchased the cartridges from Amazon ("Fulfilled by Amazon"), I would need to return them to Amazon. I went to the Amazon web site only to find that they would only accept returns for 30 days, which was less than the time since I'd purchased the cartridges.

I called LD again and explained that the cartridges that they warrant for a year could only be returned to Amazon within 30 days of purchase, so I would need them to compensate me for them. The only remedy they would offer was to replace the cartridges. I explained that replacement cartridges would not be useful to me because they would just clog the heads like the ones that I already had. They insisted that the only remedy they could provide was to replace the cartridges.

So LD is selling a pigment-based black ink that clogs Canon print heads, and if your purchase is fulfilled by Amazon, they will only replace them with similarly problematic cartridges. I suggest you simply avoid LD altogether and purchase your cartridges from a company that sells higher quality inks. One company that I have found to consistently provide good cartridges is Carrot Ink.

These replacements are significantly cheaper than the Canon OEM refills and do include a working ink level sensor, which is great for my Canon MG 5200 series printer. I have not noticed any difference in ink quality, so for a significant discount, this pack seems to be an excellent deal!

I'm a Network Administrator and I buy these as replacement cartridges for a couple of Canon ip4820 printers we still have in the office. It's always a pain in the backside getting complaints about printing issues so I was a little hesitant about purchasing these are first. After several rounds of these ink cartridges though I can report that there have been zero problems. The print quality has been great for business printing (can't speak to photo printing) and there have not been any compatibility issues. Overall these are a great buy that saves us a lot of money.

Never have I been treated with more disrespect than 4inkjets/LD/123inkjets despite the fact that the problem was their own error (they sent the wrong set).

I ordered this set from 4inkjets/LD/123inkjets (they do business under many names, which should make consumers suspect too) well in advance of needing it, like I always do. When I went to use one of the cartridges I got an error message. Well, lo & behold, they had sent me an incompatible set. I checked my email for the order & sure enough, it was their mistake.

I emailed them (using a forwarded sales receipt showing the order) & explicitly told them the problem. Then I got the run-around. And around. And around. I won't bore you with the gruesome details, as we've all unfortunately been through it these days with companies like this one. After several calls, several emails, & being cursed at and talked over by someone answering their phones named "Mercedes" (she sounded like an illegal alien), I finally gave up.

This company rooked me out of $50, I had to run out to Office Depot because I was left high & dry despite ordering well in advance, & my blood pressure was raised over the few days I tried to deal with them.

Obviously this kind of problem would be rectified by Amazon if you order through them. However, you may want to think twice about this ink. I now know (thanks to another reviewer) why my printheads seemed to clog so quickly. It's this cheap ink. I'll also say that whenever I ordered through 4inkjets/LD/123inkjets, there were always 3-4 of the inks that were defective (out of about 12, or 25%). I never bothered to complain. I wish I had, since I would have found out what a disreputable company this outfit is.

More of us need to speak out about such companies. I'll also be reporting to the Better Business Bureau.

Stick to Canon ink, & buy it through Amazon. Lesson learned the hard way.
