The compatible lexmark #1 (18c0781) color ink cartridge that I purchased arrived in just 5 days! Very exciting because we had let the printer completely run dry. I was skeptical about purchasing due to the negative review regarding green ink being substituted for the black ink. I am thrilled to report that our coupons, two essays, numerous emails and loads of sheet music have all printed successfully and are within the black hue. Admittedly, however, I have seen 'blacker' black ink. For our financially frugal family with four teenage daughters we are willing to pay nearly 1/3 the price of new and sacrafice a slight shade of ebony. I am eager to buy another cartridge to have on hand:)

I purchased this not expecting High quality product...just wanted something that would print on some fabric for some appliques...(didnt have to be black, I would have been pleased with blue, etc..But when I opened the package today...the ink was all over the plastic bag it was enclosed in...and I didnt even open because it would have been alot more trouble than I was prepared for...I will not purchase this product again...sorry

As expected, the printer utility did not recognize the ink level status and claimed the replacement ink cartridge was empty. However what is not acceptable is that BLACK is represented as a Dark Green. This means BLACK text is printed as a dark shade of Forest Green. It also means all color images are also accordingly off color for any of their true BLACK components.

This makes the cartridge unusable for any professional documents or business forms such as IRS Tax Forms etc...

I can tolerate minor streaking in a solid image but not getting the color even close to what is required is not acceptable at all. If it was at least a very Dark Grey I could consider using it. Since it does print and I am all out of ink, I will order a cartridge from another re-manufacturer while I use this one up printing draft copies.

UPDATE:

I discovered I could return the cartridge with free return-shipping because the item was "Fulfilled by Amazon". Shipping it back was easy and a no-brainer.
