Review of HP Remanufactured 88XL ink cartridges: Three each of Black, Cyan

What a nightmare! Cartridges have a small yellow sticker on the front that says "PULL" with little illustrations showing how to remove it. (Not rocket science here.)

My wife had opened one of the yellow cartridges to install it and told me that when she did, the "ink came out everywhere". And it did, we have yellow splotches in the carpet that won't come out.

So, I'm thinking maybe it was a defective cartridge. The black ink cartridge also needed to be replaced and I'm glad I decided to change it rather than my wife!

Holding the cartridge carefully with the label up so no ink could potentially spill, I started to peel off the sticker. As soon as I had peeled the sticker off enough to uncover the hole (HP cartridge don't have a visible hole in them), black ink shot out everywhere, across my shirt and all over my hands (see my photo) and on the carpet. Fortunately I didn't get in my eyes. Who knows how long it will take to wear off my hands and forget the shirt not to mention the yellow and black stains in the carpet.

So 1 yellow and 1 black squirting ink cartridges. Two out of two is not a fluke. It's just a lousy product.

As an added note, these cartridges do not look the same as what is shown in the product photograph.

I purchased these based on the other reviews and of course the value. I bought them in October anticipating having to replace mine soon. I put the black cartridge in first and it leaked a little inside the machine but for the price I was not going to complain. I put the yellow one in next and had the same problem. I went to print about 50 pages this morning and there were multiple lines missing out of the print. Thinking it was the black cartridge I again replaced it and the problem continued. I took the black cartridge out and it had leaked all over inside the machine. I hope it does not effect the other cartridges due to the fact that it leaked into those areas. I am going to buy the HP cartridges this afternoon and we will see if my printer still works. I hope so, it cost over $300. Risk not worth the value as far as I am concerned.

Also the return on these is prorated from what I can tell. They do not refund shipping costs and you have to pay to ship them back. Not even worth the refund.

I purchased the 12 pack of HP 88XL replacement ink from Amazon supplier Sophia Global and it works great. I have tested by using with genuine (much more expensive) HP ink and the Sophia Global works just as good as the HP ink and lasts just as long, FOR MUCH LESS MONEY.

Ordered 12 88XL cartridges for my HP 7780 MFC printer. Opened the Cyan cartridge, but my printer would not recognize the cartridge. Send email via Amazon site, but no response for three days. I'm afraid that I may lost the $20.00 on this worthless cartridges. Not happy a customer.

damages your printer head! worked for 2 days, then replaced print head and worked for another week, then replaced printer head the third time then used HP genuine ink and had no problem since... not worth trying to save money on these remanufactured cartidges. it'll cost you over $60 just to replace the print head!!
