I purchased two sets of these compatible cartridges because the price is seductive. Fortunately, I also bought a set of Canon OEM cartridges Canon BCI-6 Black/Color Ink Tank 6-Pack Set (4705A018)at the same time.
By the time I ordered and received these cartridges, all colors except magenta were exhausted. When I opened the compatible cyan cartrige, the orange thingy covering the ink exit sighed rather than snapped. Ink stained my hands, trousers and floor. Having learned, I opened the other cartridges carefully. Two more cartridges had driblets of ink, although not like the cyan disaster.
I printed a photograph I had printed previously with Canon cartridges. The colors were wrong, particularly cyan, yielding a gross and worthless result. To be sure, I replaced the five compatibles with Canon OEM cartriges and got true colors in the print. (Both prints on the same glossy photo paper plus with the same 8x10.5 image.)
I rated the compatibles 2-star because their cost is 22% of the OEM cartridges. They are worthless for photographs, but might be okay if you want color but not necessarily true color, as when printing web pages. Once installed, the compatibles did not leak ink in the printer for that one print. But between opening and loading, I recommend disposible gloves, industrial strength apron or stainable work clothes and all surfaces protected with trashable newspapers.

It now appears only the cyan cartridge in one of the two sets I purchased was defective, so I upgraded my review to three stars. The price of this ink set is attractive enough if you want to risk a ten percent chance of disaster.
