The Canon PGI-250 PGBK ink tank is high quality. To my knowledge, it's primarily used to print black-only pages and text documents. In most Canon printers, there is a separate black ink tank (labeled just "BK" instead of PGBK") for photo printing.

According to the Canon website the page yield of this ink cartridge is approx. 300 pages (this will vary by printer model). My printer is fairly new and I've only been through two cartridges so far, so it's hard for me to say whether Canon's number is accurate but it seems a little on the high side.

will almost always buy it via amazon or a similarly motivated web retailer. the one missing star is for the cluttered state of the main reply page. Why are not only those ink tanks offered on this page that correspond to the selection of the user? Why does one have to purchase the PGI-250 separately from the four tanks of the CLI-251?

I wasn't sure if I should order this or the high yield ink. What I have found is that if you use your ink quickly, within 6 months or less, then high yield may be the way to go. I don't print often and replace my ink maybe once a year, so regular ink is fine. Google it!

I always buy Name Brand products expecially in electronics.

I like the Canon Ink Cartridges in the XL cartridges, as there is More in them than in the Non-XL cartridges.
