Amazingly enough this item worked immediately in my printer! I worried about installation and compatibility, and no problem. The ink register however does not work so you don't have the ability to use HP software to gauge amount of ink left in the cartridge.

We sometimes get only one cartridge that works out of four. Very frustrating.We have tried to reload them multiple times but even though it is a full cartridge the printer does not recognize that it is even there. When it does recognize it it does not use the ink and instead of black we get blue or pink.
