I've refilled my HP45 cartridges for years.
BEFORE this system, the ink was inserted in a little hole in the bottom of the cartridge. I had to have a dedicated work-area, knock the little ball into the cartridge, have the correct-sized set screw ready and an allen wrench to screw it in once the ink was in. I had to suck up the ink with a syringe and carefully squirt it in, watching to make sure it didn't run over and make an ink mess, and adjust it to the right level. I had to squeeze the cartridge sides while screwing in the set screw. (That's a simplification of the process. It was a real pain.)
WITH THIS SYSTEM, the ink is "back-flow'ed" thru the print-head nozzles. It's simple, mess-free (usually) and I believe the cartridge will print better immediately (the ink backflow should help keep the nozzles open) and longer. I'm now on the 2nd set of 3 refills for the same cartridge and it continues to work perfectly, immediately, each time.
Highly recommended.
