The printhead works as expected and there is a noticeable improvement in printed output. Now I need to consider replacing the other 3 printheads, which tend to show some horizontal banding instead of producing a solid color bar during the HP cleaning/test page routines. Despite multiple cleaning cycles the banding isn't rectified, a condition worsened by intermittent use. Printhead replacement is rather expensive, especially for a D145 with less than 1000 printed pages, although it is an aging 3-year-old unit. A full set of printheads and one set of ink cartridges is half the cost of a whole new MFP, so instead of replacing printheads, maybe I'll bite the bullet the next time it's up for new ink...

Although it's a bummer that the hp officejet d135 is designed with the printheads and inkcartridges separate (so they have to be replaced sperately) this product was a cinch to install. Printheads on this model of the officejet typically last about three years and are as easy to replace as an ink cartridge.Best Deals for HP 14 Magenta Printhead in Retail Packaging
i've used my HP Officejet d135 for many years with great success. Recently I've started having to replace printheads which is a part of normal maintenance. The HP website store does not appear to sell the printheads any more for a machine that old so I've ordered the part from Amazon. The printhead came in on schedule and in sealed original HP soft plastic packaging. It installed without any problems and appears to be working perfectly now. It may seem strange to love a printhead but considering the alternatives I must admit I'm pleased I don't have to buy a new printer.
