I have always stuck with Canon OEM ink, because the results and reliability are worth the extra cost to me (plus printer manufacturers are making it increasingly problematic to use non-OEM solutions). The good news is this is genuine OEM ink from Canon, and will work just fine in my new MP6320 printer or other printers that use the PGI-250/CLI-251 series inks.

The only thing missing from this combo pack is Pigment Black ink; all of the Canon inkjets that use the CLI-251 colors also require a PGI-250 Pigment Black ink tank for text. Since you may go through more or less Pigment Black depending on what you print (text documents vs. color photos), leaving Pigment Black out of this combo makes some sense. Just be sure to order a Canon Ink PGI-250 PGBK Individual Ink Tank or Canon Ink PGI-250 PGBK XL Individual Ink Tank in addition to this combo.

One gripe about the ink tanks themselves (besides the fact the amount of ink supplied continues to shrink over time) is that they are totally opaque. I prefer earlier Canon tanks (such as the Canon CLI-221 2946B004 4-Color Value Pack that are either clear or have a clear window to eyeball the amount of ink left. With the CLI-251 ink tanks you must rely on the printer to tell you when to replace the ink, and occasionally printers get it wrong and tell you a tank is empty when it isn't.

Note: what I *really* want is a value combo featuring the XL sized ink tanks, which are rated by Canon to last 100% longer for the color tanks and 50% longer for the Pigment Black. But as of May 2013 it seems like these are only sold individually. (See first comment for more info on page yields.)

We always buy Name Brand ink cartridges. And I buy the individual ink cartridges, because whewn you buyu them by the Value Pack, you'll end up with a lot of extra Black cartridges. That's why I do not buy these cartridges by the pack. Always, you'll want to the "X" ones. That is, the CLI-251 BK-XL, CLI-251 C-XL, CLI-251 PGBK-XL, CLI-251 M-XL, CLI-251 Y-XL, CLI-251 GY-XL.

I print all my photos on canon paper using this ink. Nothing but good things to say about the ink, but it does get used fairly quickly. I would estimate I have to replace a single color after about 50 4x6s, border less. Photo paper, normal quality. I would recommend the Xl size, it might last a bit longer.

I print on the Canon Photo Paper Glossy II and combined with this ink, I find the colors very vivid. It dries very fast and I can handle the photos almost immediately after printing.
