(1) New HP 96 costs $26 to $37 per cartridge, compared to $3 to $4 for this.
(2) No troubles in using Printronic cartridge.
I do not recommend remanufactured HP 97 color cartridge by Eco Ink. My printer will not accept half
the cartridges I bought. Eco Ink emailed me on how to clean their cartridges' print heads.
I use the Printronic in my HP Officejet 7310. You may have to reset the printer by
disconnecting the power cord for at least 30 minutes.
If that does not work. Remove the little internal battery and put it back on after at least 30 minutes.
Ignore the printer warning about the "ink is low", or "print cartridge alignment failed" and press "OK" to continue.
HP uses different warnings to discourage you from using remanufactured cartridges instead of new ones.
I had a paper jam. I removed the jammed paper. But the warning kept coming up after I turned the printer
off then on 3 times. I stopped the warning by disconnecting the power cord for at least 10 minutes.
(3) The printout is little bit not as crisp as, not as black as a new HP 96. But it is good enough for
me. You are reusing an used print head.

I bought this product because reviews stated that they are interchangeable with the 94's (just contain more ink). My HP was angry with the selection of ink and promptly notified me that it didn't intend to print anything for me.I returned it promptly and was promptly refunded (thank you amazon). I purchased the 94's from the same company (Printronic) and they work perfectly! :)
My best advice, if you don't want the hassle, is to try out the ink cartridge that you *know* will work with your HP -like the same number that is currently in there.
