So these are supposed to be I think 500 pages yield per cartridge but I put my printer on quick print (the ink saver setting) and I think I probably get close to double that out of one cartridge. I love these & how affordable, I print a ton of stuff and my Lexmark printer with these cartridges has saved me hundreds of dollars now I have had it well over a year. I have the Pinnacle Pro 901 which these go with along with several other printers. They are also really easy to install and are the factory Lexmark cartridges, not refurbished or anything, but at a price even cheaper than most refurbished inks are!!

When our multi-function printer went kaput finally, I decided to do a little research online in order to find a great printer (instead of just spending $100+ on a similar printer). I did this like I used to do with electronics in the old days (i.e. the 90's lol). I used to never really be a big fan of the Lexmark brand, but my family liked them because their products are generally pretty inexpensive. So after deciding to stick with the company, I decided to look over their various models and weigh pros/cons.

I settled on the Lexmark Platinum Pro905, even though it's about twice as much as other multi-function printers in its class. I was able to find a good deal on Amazon, though (of course), and instead of paying $200 for it, I snagged it for about $130 brand-spankin' new. The reason I wanted that printer in an era where printers can be bought for $50 or less? Well, the 105XL ink was dirt cheap. I've refilled inks in the past for other printers (both myself and by "pros"). Sure, I saved some money initially, but there were always a couple problems, especially with refilling the color inks on my printers: #1 color prints on photo paper weren't perfect, because the colors weren't an ideal match #2 refilling the ink shortened the life spans of each printer & #3 it voids the warranty, usually, if not always. I'd recommend refilling ink yourself, if you're doing it in a crappy printer that only does B&W printouts, particularly text. If you ever plan on doing color printing along with the occasional photo, then stick with brand-name inks recommended by your manufacturer.

Our printer is set to bring using only blank ink, maybe 90% of the time, since we're generally printing text, & most of the time we're printing in draft quality, as well, since most printouts are for us & aren't leaving the office. When I need to switch to color & higher quality, I can easily do so with this printer & I don't have to worry about the quality being bad, because I use original ink. The Lexmark Platinum Pro905 truly does have the cheapest ink! And if you're a wise user of the printer like I think we are, then you won't be changing your ink very often, & when you do, it doesn't cost an arm & a leg.

TL;DR IN SUMMARY, IF YOU DO A LOT OF PRINTING, & YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH A LOT OF B&W PRINTOUTS, THEN YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY GET THE SAME PRINTER AS WE DID: THE LEXMARK PLATINUM PRO905. The high yield 105XL ink will last you a long time, and even though the printer will seem initially expensive, it will pay for itself in a few months. I mean, come on, you can get brand-name black ink from the manufacturer for only $5 a pop, and if you use Amazon Prime like we do, the ink will really be very cheap. And you won't be changing your color ink that often either. If you want to be frugal & wise with the printer like I am, set your printer defaults to B&W & draft by default. If you need something in better quality, then just jump into the printing setup & make whatever changes you have to make. But if you make a habit of printing most of your things this way, especially if they're prints for yourself & not to clients, then you'll save a lot on ink. I buy one of these 105XL high yield 2-packs maybe every month to 1.5 months & color ink gets replaced about 3-4 times a year. So if I spend $11 on black ink every month instead of the $45 or more I used to spend, then that's over $400 saved on black ink each year! If you have a larger office with more employees & more printers, then you can save billions of dollars! Ok, well maybe not billions, but thousands.

I bought a two-pack in April and attempted to use one in July. When installed, my Lexmark printer gave an error message saying "cartridge not supported". I tried the second one, same result. I put the spent cartridge back in and did not get the message. The seller refused to accept a return because it had been more than five weeks (seriously...do consumers use an ink cartridge that fast all the time?).

I hate to say it, but I will stick with Wal-Mart...they will not close their return window after five weeks. I am finding more and more that Amazon has aligned itself with business partners who do not provide the same commitment to excellence that Amazon has demonstrated over the years. Sad but true.

I've tried many types of printer inks, but Lexmark is the best I've used. The colors are beautiful and dries fast and no smudges. I love this ink, it's the best.
