I bought a Brother MFC-495CW at a thrift store, missing the black cartridge. I figured there was no hope it would ever print, but I was really looking for an networkable scanner. When I saw this ink from Sophia I thought, why not try and see if it'll print as well?
The cartridges came individually wrapped in sealed bags with no sign of leakage. The machine accepted them with no problem. Not surprisingly the print head started off really clogged (30% of the jets were functional, 10% of the black). Cleaning 18 times over 3 days did the trick. The machine prints perfectly now, no streaks or other defects.
The only reason I'm not giving the ink 5 stars is that the colors are a little dim.
It's only been two weeks, so I can't report on whether the ink fades, or if the ink will lead to future jet clogging, or any other long term problem. Even so, this stuff brought a printer back from the dead for $9 and I'm very pleased.I'm happy with the cartridges. They work well so far, no issues. cheaper than buying brand name. lasts for a while. the dark ink lasted longer than that of the brand name
