Just installed this product. The factory Light Cyan & Light Magenta ran out before we used 20% of all the other inks. I didn't want to cut my printer so I borrowed an idea I saw in a YouTube video . I rolled up a piece of paper and bent the end. I stuffed the bent end into the sensor for the scanner lid and laid the rest of the paper to the left. The roll of paper allows the printer to print with a gap in the scanner lid and it doesn't put any stress on the ink tubing.

First test photos are color matched perfect. And, with UV ink they shouldn't fade for years to come.

First, the print quality and color is, as far my eye can tell, identical to the OEM Epson cartridges.

Second, installation was easy enough. I didn't have to "modify" my Artisan 715 at all.

Thirdly, and the eternally thorn in my side is that it constantly says that it cannot detect a random cartridge. This is fixed by simply cycling the power on the printer and pushing the reset button per the instructions. I am certain that everything is installed correctly, as it works most of the time.

But this is frustrating. It's seemingly random, it will happen at various times for no apparent reason. Sometimes when you turn it on, sometimes days will pass without issue, sometimes multiple instances in the same print job. When ever does it, the paper that is in process at the time of the error is ejected, unfinished. This can get expensive if you are using ultra glossy premium stuff that is $1 a sheet.

Research states that this can be attributed to Epson's firmware trying to discourage folks from using 3rd party ink systems. Some say that the CIS system itself is shoddy. Whatever the cause, or whoever is to blame, you'll have to live with it.

I choose to live with it. If all you print is plain paper stuff, you'll come out ahead.

We gave up on this product after many attempts to make it work in our Artisan 730. There were two problems. First, the cover could not be made to close properly on the tubing, so we had to file away part of the printer to accommodate it. Second and more important, the printer kept stopping in the middle of a print-out, claiming that a cartridge was missing or empty. That was too bad, as the inks were fine, and we have used similar products in the past with older models of printers that worked very well. Epson must be on to CIS's.

Honest reviews on Gigablock Continuous Ink System (CIS) for: Epson Artisan 730

We purchased the bulk feed system for our Epson 835 from this seller and it worked like a dream. Our cost for inks were cut dramatically and the printer functioned perfectly. With this in mind, when we had to replace our printer, we purchased the bulk feed system for our new Epson 837 printer. It installed easily but the cartridges in the bulk feed system are not recognized by the printer before, during and after printing. We have to open the cover and press the reset button as many as four times a day. Calls to Gigablock places the blame on Epson and their software but the bulk feed system does not operate properly on this product. It is still saving us money on ink, so that is a plus, but is drives us crazy "beeping" frequently during the day to have to open the cover and reset the cartridges once again. The only help we received from the seller was being told to open the cover as frequently as needed, they'll reset. Great! We'll give the bulk system **2 stars and customer service -***negative stars for the nonchalant attitude to customer dissatisfaction.

update:

I tried to install this on my EPson 837 and now the printer is dead. I cut up the epson front with a dremel to fit the ciss ink line, now I get the error "close your scanner...." I take out the ciss and install the regular ink cartridge and get the same error message. Epson has really done their homework and brink my printer. So this product is useless and will brick your printer. I will contact both epson to see what theis "scanner close error is, for now the printer doesn't work.

I just talked Gigablock. The 2012 version of the CIS will all be smaller tanks then shown on the picture. This version of the tank will not matter what type of 800 series printer you have they will all work as they say. In the meantime I will start to test how it works on the Epson 837. They did refund the difference between the old 837 price with the standard 800 series price.

Got this product, but it isn't the same product you see here. It is the product you see here:

Epson Artisan 837 CISS Continuous Ink System CIS that version doesn't come with ink, gigablock does. I got mine straight from Gigablockshop and they use paypal, not the most legit company that has to hide behind paypal.

The other thing is they charged more for 837 and they sent me the general 800 series. Why the up-charge for the same product. I will upload the picture to amazon to see what you get.

Classic Bait and switch, at least the other seller on amazon used the correct picture.

Does it work? Well I am getting it returned or asking for a discount, and also reported them to BBB for bait and switching. I still believe in CIS as a cost saver, so once thing settle down I will review that. Their cheap manual print out don't even show the 837 or 800 series model, so it is a waste.
